Bill Cassidy: FactCheck: Yes, hours-long wait to vote, but now fixed

[Cassidy said on CNN about voting in the 2020 Georgia election], "when [my opponent] says a 90-year-old woman has to stand in line for four hours, in Georgia, she doesn't. I think, in Delaware, she might have to, or New York." Is that true, that voters had to wait for hours? The AJC checked:

Georgia is replacing a laggy statewide voter registration system that caused colossal lines during early voting in the 2020 election. The new technology could prevent similar waits in this year's races for governor and the U.S. Senate. Wait times exceeded eight hours at the start of early voting before election officials added capacity to the system so it could handle the load. Election Day went more smoothly, with wait times averaging less than three minutes.

Bill Cassidy: FactCheck: Yes, giving water to voters is criminalized

[Cassidy said on CNN about the Georgia anti-electioneering law], "They're not criminalizing giving people water. They're just saying you can't walk up to them just before they walk in, give them water and tell them who to vote for." Is that true?

"No person shall solicit votes in any manner or by any means or method, nor shall any person distribute or display any campaign material, nor shall any person give, offer to give, or participate in the giving of any money or gifts, including, but not limited to, food and drink, to an elector," the new law states. The law applies within 150 feet of a polling place or within 25 feet of any voter at a polling place. Violators are guilty of a misdemeanor.

OnTheIssues conclusion: Giving voters water IS criminalized with a misdemeanor penalty. Cassidy is also wrong that providing water is illegal only if they "tell them who to vote for"--that's called "electioneering." The law says that electioneering is illegal AND giving voters water is illegal.

Gary Black: Make elections secure; no erosion of voter ID laws

Raphael Warnock and Regressive Democrats in the Senate are leading the charge to nationalize our elections, ban voter ID, mandate dangerous practices like ballot harvesting, and ultimately fund their campaigns with our tax dollars. Not on my watch. Winning back this U.S. Senate seat means putting an end to the Regressive Party's attempts at taking over our elections. I'll work to make our elections more secure, standing against any blue wave that tries to erode voter ID laws.

Raphael Warnock and the rest of the Regressive Democrats have made it clear: They want to "fundamentally change" the foundations of our government. I'll stand in that gap to stop them.

I believe that nine Supreme Court justices is plenty. I believe the filibuster should be protected. And I believe unelected bureaucrats in Washington have no business running Georgia's elections.

Jon Ossoff: AdWatch: Fighting corruption is my job; no PAC donations

I'm Jon Ossoff and I lead a business that investigates corruption for news organizations worldwide. We've exposed sexual slavery by ISIS; crooked judges; child trafficking; and bribery. Truth is, corruption is why politicians let health insurance companies rip off our families, and polluters poison our air and water. Fighting corruption is my job; and it's what I'll do as your senator. That's why I'm refusing donations from corporate PACs, and why I approve this message.

Kelly Loeffler: Republican Secretary of State should resign over election

Joint Statement From Senators Perdue & Loeffler: "The management of Georgia elections has become an embarrassment. Georgians are outraged, and rightly so. Every legal vote cast should be counted. Any illegal vote must not. The mismanagement and lack of transparency from the Secretary of State is unacceptable. Honest elections are paramount to the foundation of our democracy. The Secretary of State has failed to deliver honest and transparent elections. He has failed the people of Georgia, and he should step down immediately."

The Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger responded: "Senators Loeffler and Perdue called for my resignation. That is not going to happen. From an election administration perspective, the election was a resounding success. Almost 5 million Georgians cast a vote in this election--that is a record turnout. The process of reporting results followed the law. Where there have been allegations of illegal voting, my office has dispatched investigators."

Raphael Warnock: Restore Voting Rights Act to ensure elections are fair

Reverend Warnock understands that our vote is our voice, and that the ability to use our voice is a matter of human dignity. The best way to honor John Lewis' legacy is not to simply offer pious platitudes, but to get busy restoring the Voting Rights Act that was gutted by the Supreme Court. And in the middle of a global pandemic, it also means giving states the resources they need to protect access to the vote for all. Our elections must be fair, open, and safe for every eligible citizen.
