State of Missouri secondary Archives: on Education

Lucas Kunce: Relief from student loans; invest in Pre-K, K-12, HBCUs

We need to empower Missourians of all ages and backgrounds with the education and training opportunities they'll need to succeed. That means making college more accessible by providing relief for student loans. It means investing in K-12 and Pre-K education so our teachers have the resources they need. It means putting more money into Pell Grants, the very program Lucas attended college on. And it means investing in Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions.

Mark McClosky: Critical race theory is one of America's biggest threats

The Democrats push to install critical race theory into our schools is one of the biggest threats America faces today. They want to teach our children to hate their own country, their own culture, and their own religion. For too long, we've allowed left wing academics to indoctrinate our children and push their political ideology on our kids. Mark McCloskey will take a stand against the dishonest critical race theory curriculum. We need to teach kids how to think, not what to think.

Tim Shepard: We need major investment to increase education specialists

The need for trained professional counselors and special needs educators has been made apparent over the past few decades. The funding needed to staff these positions has not only stagnated but in many cases has actually shrunk. We need to make major investments to bring staffing levels of specialists up to research-justified levels. Anything less is selling Americans short.

Tim Shepard: Increase support, opportunities for vocational training

We need to collaborate with trade unions, manufacturing associations, and similar, to bring them into schools and to bring students to the worksites through things like facility tours and subsidized internships. To create the level of talent that can keep up with the continually-evolving nature of work, it is imperative that we build a stronger scholarship program for trade schools, and fund training facilities that rival the ability and appeal of even the average college-based programs.

Trudy Busch Valentine: Supports two years of universal preschool

Giving every child the opportunity to succeed with two years of universal preschool. As a mom and grandmother, Trudy wants every child to receive a quality education from the start. Nearly half of all 3-year-olds and a third of all 4-year-olds in the United States were not enrolled in preschool in 2019, largely because parents could not afford it. It's time we make a quality education within reach of every family, regardless of where they live or what their background might be.
