State of Ohio secondary Archives: on Government Reform

Jane Timken: I believe our rights are God-given, not government-given

I believe our rights are God-given, not government-given, and that includes our fundamental rights to bear arms and worship freely. The government has no authority to infringe on these unalienable rights, and I will fiercely defend these liberties as Senator.

JD Vance: It's time to end the COVID-era changes to our elections

Give Republicans power, and we try to pass a new law; give Democrats power, and they try to legalize electioneering and ballot harvesting. It's time to end the COVID-era changes to our elections--we need to go back to having an election day in this country, not an election season, and we need other common-sense measures too: Voter ID, signature verification on absentee ballots, and an end to mass mail-in voting.

John Cranley: Reform campaign finance laws by requiring public disclosure

DeWine and the Republicans' corruption is costing Ohioans money every day. Republicans are beholden to groups that create problems, and when the problems arise they expect middle-class and working people to bail out their polluters and crooks. As governor, John will make it easier to prosecute corrupt politicians. He will reform the state's campaign finance laws by requiring public disclosure of all campaign contributions online and prohibiting secret corporate campaign contributions.

Matt Dolan: Get government out of the way of leading job creators

The government doesn't create jobs, but it can destroy them. I've hired employees. I've signed both sides of a check. I know what it means to deal with recessions, high taxes, regulation and onerous government burdens. In the State Legislature, I've led the way in expanding workplace freedoms, cutting taxes and getting government out of the way of Ohio's leading job creators. I will do the same in the U.S. Senate.

Matt Dolan: I strongly support Voter ID and upholding accurate rolls

I strongly support Voter ID and upholding accurate rolls. I will stand in opposition to any federal law that loosens or undermines the integrity and strength of Ohio's independent election system.

Voted to urge the U.S. Congress to reject Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer's unconstitutional overreach into state elections (federal bill HR 1).

Morgan Harper: Supports voting reform & DC statehood

Fixing Our Democracy. The far-right has declared war on voting rights, the cornerstone of our democracy. We urgently need to fight back at the federal level. We need to pass the John Lewis Act and the For The People Act, and work to make our elections more secure. At a basic level, our communities cannot gain back their power if our people are denied their right to vote. The citizens of Washington DC deserve statehood. Arcane Senate rules like the filibuster cannot stand between our people and their rights. The Supreme Court should be expanded to restore balance after Trump stole seats to push the Court far right.
