Bill Gates on Education

$1B for minority scholarships over 20 years

Bill Gates recently announced a pledge of at least $1 billion to pay for full scholarships over the next 20 years for minority students in the fields of education, math, science, and engineering. Gates plans to help a minimum of 1,000 high school students a year through the program, called the Gates Millennium Scholarships. He has spoken many times about the need to bridge the “digital divide” in society and will especially target his scholarships toward black, Hispanic, and Indian students.
