Republican Party on Labor & Farming

Recognize that people depend on land for livelihood

We recognize the vital role the timber industry plays in our economy, particularly in homebuilding, and we support its efforts to improve the health of the country’s forests. Because so many people in rural America rely on public forests for their livelihood, a Republican administration will promote sustainable forest management, using the best science in place of no-growth policies.

Small business deserves better treatment from government

Small businesses generate more than half the gross domestic product. They deserve better treatment from government. We will provide it through lower tax rates, ending the death tax, cutting through red tape, legal and product liability reform, and the aggressive expansion of overseas markets. In the case of OSHA, we will withdraw its proposed ergonomics standard. Almost 60% of uninsured workers are employed by small business. That is reason to allow 100% deductibility of health insurance premiums.
