Socialist Party on Free Trade

Socialist Party Platform

Support global transformation from capitalism to socialism

The Socialist Party stands for a fundamental transformation of the economy, focusing on production for need not profit. So-called fair trade is meaningless as long as the world economy is dominated by a few massive corporations. Only a global transformation from capitalism to socialism will provide the conditions for international peace, justice, and economic cooperation based on the large-scale transfer of resources and technology from the developed to the developing countries.

Withdraw from NAFTA, CAFTA, FTAA, IMF, and WTO

Withdraw from NAFTA, FTAA, WTO, and IMF

We demand the immediate withdrawal of the US from NAFTA, CAFTA and FTAA. We oppose the World Bank, WTO and the IMF. We call for a fundamental transformation of the economy, focusing on production for need not for profit. Free Trade and Fair Trade are meaningless as long as the world economy is dominated by a few massive corporations. We need a global transformation from capitalism to democratic socialism which will provide peace, justice and economic cooperation to all nations equally.

Free trade enriches capitalists and displaces humans

Immigration is a natural outgrowth of imperialism and the forced uneven economic development of nations. "Free trade" agreements have eliminated national borders to enrich the capitalists, while the capitalists have erected borders against humans displaced by the effects of global capitalism.
