John Edward Walsh on Jobs

Supports increasing the minimum wage

While Walsh spent part of his Saturday night speech blasting Daines, he also spelled out some of his own positions, saying he supports increasing the minimum wage, cutting waste in the defense budget, allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices and reforming the prosecution of sexual assaults in the military.

My dad was a union man, and my roots are in unions

Walsh--who has two grown children with his wife, Janet, and a grandchild--said he is a Democrat owing to his roots in the union stronghold of Butte. "My dad was a pipefitter and was a strong labor man," Walsh said. "I was raised with the Democratic values, Montana Democratic values and I have carried those values on throughout my lifetime."
