William Barnes on Jobs

Extend unemployment benefits as subsistence income

I support the extension of unemployment benefits and reason being is that those taxpayers who are unemployed have to have some type of subsistence income to maintain a basic standard of living.

They still have mortgages to pay. If it's not a mortgage, it's rent. They have to live somewhere! We can't just throw them out in the cold. And it's their families too.

Their children shouldn't be hurt. They're innocent! They had nothing to do with that. Why should they be hurt

Must take action when unemployment rate exceeds 10%

An unemployment rate of 10%, or greater, is unacceptable and we need to take action that will foster the development of jobs and put those who are seriously unemployed back to work. Having a high unemployment rate seriously jeopardizes our Social Security System; not to overlook the jeopardy and stress from lack of revenues of our counties, cities and municipalities experiencing the drop of tax revenues from unemployment and drop in businesses throughout the Nation.
