Reform without privatization

He wants to pursue Social Security reform but not through Bush's privatization efforts. "I'm a believer in reality and (will not) fight for causes that have no potential," Schlesinger said.

Guarantee no diversion of trust fund to other expenditures

Alan has a plan for a Guaranteed Social Security that would not allow the so-called "trust fund" to be diverted to other expenditures. All of the annual surpluses would be invested for the future in financial instruments such as mortgage backed securities earning real income for future retirees.
