Mark Clayton on Tax Reform

Moratorium on income taxes for those earning $50,000 or less

Today, working Americans will be unjustly required to pay a regressive tax which many economists feel hurts the economy. The Clayton campaign agrees with these economists.

As your senator, Mark Clayton will introduce legislation imposing a moratorium on all income taxes for those who earn $50,000 or less individually. The legislation will also impose a moratorium on all IRS collection activities on wage earners and self-employed who earn $100,000 or less. The Clayton campaign believes the income tax moratorium to be vital and necessary for any realistic economic stimulus package.

Mark Clayton is taking a no-compromise approach to this issue, and such measures would merely serve as a "breathing room" recession stop-gap, allowing time during the last precious moments the United States Senate has left to overhaul the current broken revenue system. The first order of business for the US Senate in 2009 should be overhauling the current broken revenue system.
