Donald Carcieri on Budget & Economy

Republican RI Governor

The Big Audit: Budget War Room

Beginning the day after his inauguration, Don Carcieri will enact the Big Audit. Don will open a Budget War Room to dig into the budget in depth, getting his hands around the full extent of the problem with a thoroughness that has never before been accomplished.

The Big Audit will call all department heads into the War Room, so that Don & his team of budget experts can go line by line through their budgets, undertaking a performance as well as financial audit of all monies allocated in this state

He will demand to know not only how much money was appropriated to each program, but also how those funding levels were arrived at and how that money was spent.

Don will go expense by expense through the budget until he has uncovered every penny of waste and unnecessary expense. He will prepare accurate future estimates for these expenses and programs, so that a true multi year cost picture can be generated.

Nobody will leave until as much waste as possible has been squeezed out of each budget.
