Mikie Sherrill on Tax Reform

Pass a tax plan that supports the middle class

Pass a tax plan that supports the middle class. We only receive 74 cents back for every $1 we send to Washington in federal taxes--less than any other state. We already do more than our fair share. The federal tax bill targets us even further, with NJ affected worse than any other state in the nation. I will fight to bring back our full deduction for state and local taxes.

Protests federal cap on state, local tax deduction

In an effort to educate Congress on the unfairness of the $10,000 cap on federal income tax deductions for amounts paid in State and Local Taxes (SALT), Sherrill is taking the House Floor to talk about the cap's impact on New Jersey residents, businesses, and homeowners. She is highlighting the penalty it imposes on married couples, filing jointly. She explains how it punishes states that invest in their communities-'investments in roads, libraries, schools, first responders, and teachers.'

CC:Reverse federal income tax cuts.

Sherrill opposes the CC survey question on keeping tax cuts

The Christian Coalition Voter Guide inferred whether candidates agree or disagree with the statement, 'Make federal income tax cuts permanent' Christian Coalition's self-description: "Christian Voter Guide is a clearing-house for traditional, pro-family voter guides. We do not create voter guides, nor do we interview or endorse candidates."

PVS:Don't increase taxes to balance budget.

Sherrill opposes the PVS survey question on tax increases

Project Vote Smart inferred whether candidates agree or disagree with the statement, 'Budget: In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?' PVS self-description: "The Political Courage Test provides voters with positions on key issues. Historically, candidates have failed to complete our test due to the advice they receive from their advisors and out of fear of negative attack ads."
