On Energy & Oil: Invest in clean coal technology

We now have the ability to burn coal cleanly. Investing in clean coal technology is an important way to create new jobs and opportunities. Moving forward with clean coal will also position the Ohio Valley as a leader in reducing our country’s dependence on foreign oil.

On Free Trade: So called “free trade” is not fair to Ohio workers

So called “free trade” is not fair to Ohio workers. Our jobs are being shipped to countries where workers are paid pennies on the dollar. We must fight for fair trade agreements that protect Ohio’s working families.

On Health Care: An outrage that 46 million Americans are uninsured

In the world’s wealthiest nation, it is an outrage that roughly 46 million Americans do not have health insurance. That must change. Improving our health care system will help more than our families and seniors; it will also benefit Ohio businesses. Right now, businesses cannot compete with the rest of the world because the current system is inefficient and extremely costly.

On Immigration: More border security to protect our country

There is no excuse for the administration’s failure to secure our borders. Our security and economy depend on it. We need to fully fund the Border Patrol and provide border security with the tools they need to protect our country. Congress needs to take a common sense approach to finding solutions. Politicizing the issue of immigration will not secure our borders.

On War & Peace: Ask tough questions to end serious mistakes in Iraq

The administration has made serious mistakes in Iraq, but keeps heading down the same wrong path. Congress needs to ask tough questions to hold the administration accountable and ensure the mistakes stop. The lives of our troops and the future of Iraq depend on it. While the administration continues to pour billions of dollars and thousands of troops into Iraq, we must follow through in Afghanistan and work to address other threats to the American people.
