On Education: Unnecessary bureaucracy hampers localeducation system

The first step the federal government must take to promote education is the elimination of unnecessary bureaucracy. The over-management of K-12 education at the federal level hampers the ability of state and local governments to fulfill their responsibility of managing the education system of our country. We must rely on local communities and state governments to develop the most effective education system for our children.

On Health Care: Tax incentives for Health Savings Accounts

We should look to expand the tax incentives for Health Savings Accounts (HSA’s) and continue to advocate them as a viable option for healthcare choice. For low-to-middle-income families we should provide a direct tax credit for the purchasing of private healthcare coverage in order to lower the amount of uninsured in our country.

On Homeland Security: More funding for Department of Veterans Affairs

As Americans it is our solemn responsibility to ensure every man and woman that serve our nation in uniform is given the proper benefits to live out their life in dignity--especially those injured while in service to our nation. To this end we must ensure the Department of Veterans Affairs receives sufficient funding to meet its entire obligation to care for our sick and disabled veterans.

On Immigration: No amnesty for those that have broken the law

Any reform to immigration must include the securing of our borders, upholding and enforcing of immigration laws, no amnesty for those that have broken the law, and a renewed commitment to patriotic assimilation and citizenship. We must increase the funding for border security and expansion of the US Border Patrol. This action must be coupled with internal enforcement and international cooperation with our neighbors to ensure our sovereignty is not violated.

On Tax Reform: Make tax cuts permanent; eliminate the Death Tax

Runaway spending represents the most dangerous long term threat to our national prosperity and security. The first step to be taken is to make the current tax cuts permanent. The lowering of taxes spurs economic growth and therefore more revenue for the federal government.

We must also look to eliminate the “Death Tax”. I would also support a “Balanced Budget Amendment” to return our federal government to the “pay as you go” system.
