On Abortion: Respect the sanctity of life

I firmly believe in moving toward and promoting a culture that values and respects the sanctity of life - especially those rights of the unborn and the elderly. We must protect infants at their most vulnerable stages and never overlook the weakest and most frail among us.

As a foster mother to 23 at-risk children, I applaud the work of those who reach out to assist those most in need of care.

On Civil Rights: Authored constitutional amendment defining marriage

I was the chief author of a constitutional amendment in the Minnesota Senate defining marriage as between one man and one woman. I will continue to support traditional marriage as a union between a man and woman.

On Families & Children: Support traditional family life

My record of supporting traditional marriage, family life and children, including those yet born, is unambiguous. This will not change if elected to Congress.

On Gun Control: Fight to uphold our 2nd Amendment rights

Growing up in a home that valued hunting and fishing, the 2nd Amendment is of equal importance as the other nine Amendments in our Bill of Rights. Since the age of twelve, when I passed my first gun safety class, I’ve enjoyed the privilege afforded us by the right to bear arms. While serving in the Minnesota State Senate I supported and helped pass the Minnesota Personal Protection Act and legislation to protect local shooting ranges. I will fight to uphold our 2nd Amendment rights.

On Homeland Security: Remain vigilant and ready, including military action

Our courageous men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan are on the frontlines in the war on terror, but the horrific attack on 9/11 demonstrated that terrorists can bring the battlefield to our shores. For this reason, we must remain continually vigilant and ready with a broad based strategy that includes military action when necessary but also enhanced overseas intelligence capabilities, strengthened coalitions with willing partners and more effective and efficient homeland security.

On Immigration: Secure our borders and enforce current laws

Over the past 20 years, our borders have become more porous, the influx of illegal immigrants has dramatically increased, while the enforcement of our existing immigration laws has decreased.

We need to enforce current laws by holding responsible those who willfully violate our nation’s immigration laws.

On Tax Reform: Put hard earned money back in taxpayers’ pockets

I will work tirelessly to put hard earned money back in taxpayers’ pockets--where it belongs--not in the hands of Washington bureaucrats. We cannot tax and spend our way to prosperity. I will continue to support meaningful tax relief, such as:
