Roger Moe in Survey of Gubernatorial campaign websites, 2001-2009

On Abortion: No new restrictions: defend the right to choose

As Governor, Moe will vigorously defend a woman’s right to choose. He will veto so-called “right to know” and “24-hour waiting period” legislation. Moe will support funding for family planning and teen pregnancy prevention services, as well as health care prevention measures such as cancer screenings, and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. Roger Moe will not flip flop or play politics with this important issue.

On Education: More funding, then accountability

Moe will get schools the resources they need to succeed, and then hold teachers, parents, students, and schools accountable for results. Moe will make sure that the state meets its commitment to education funding. In addition, Moe will hold the federal government accountable for its funding mandates for special education. Moe’s plan focuses on accountability, while getting testing under control. His administration will make sure that new tests don’t duplicate what we already have in place.

On Energy & Oil: Incentives for alternative fuel programs

Moe will be a strong supporter of promoting clean, “homegrown” energy. [Besides] supporting wind farms, Moe will offer incentives to bring wind manufacturers to our state. We must continue to encourage the growth of the ethanol industry, and support plants that are ready to produce new value-added products derived from corn. Minnesota has made a commitment to creating a viable soy-diesel industry in our state. Now we need to create the infrastructure to allow it to grow.

On Health Care: Lower Rx costs via expanded MN programs

Moe supports the Fair Drug Pricing Act, which will allow uninsured Minnesotans access to discounted prescription drugs. He will work with the Attorney General to make sure the Minnesota Medical Assistance program receives adequate rebates from drug companies. A Moe Administration will support expansion of the Minnesota Prescription Drug program to increase access for seniors and persons with disabilities.
