Bill Richardson: Green Jobs Cabinet: build aggressive clean energy strategy

This week I will issue an executive order directing key state agencies--from education to workforce development, and from economic development to energy--to form a "Green Jobs Cabinet." This cabinet will build an aggressive clean energy strategy, so our state educates, trains, and prepares a clean energy workforce.

On renewable energy, we lead by example, having nearly tripled our usage of wind- powered electricity over the last six years. But each year our current electrical grid loses over one hundred megawatts of power through inefficiency and out-of-date technology.

I propose we lead the nation in the construction of a Green Grid to harness the power of solar and wind, and use smart electronics to deliver energy to consumers cheaper and more efficiently. The Green Grid will also help us tackle the toughest environmental challenge we face--climate change.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: Last year set record of 2014 wildfires burning at one time

Let me say something about the fires of 2008. At one point I got a phone call: We had 2014 fires burning all at the same time, the largest number on record. Imagine, 2000 plus fires. What a huge challenge. But every one of those fires was put out. And you know why? Because we have the best trained and the most selfless and the toughest firefighters in the nation. Let's give them a big hand.

Thirteen of whom lost their lives. They gave their lives for this state.

Janet Napolitano: Limit our greenhouse gas emissions & focus on solar energy

Arizona must also stay on the path toward greener future. We must continue to implement forest health measures that create new industries and protect our forested communities. We also must work to limit our greenhouse gas emissions through the Western Climate Initiative, and move forward in building a strong renewable energy sector, particularly with respect to solar energy. The entire nation is going in this direction--and Arizona has much to gain by being a leader.
