Scott Walker in 2010 gubernatorial press release

On Technology: Pulled plug on light rail; fix roads and bridges instead

Since learning about the state's agreement with the federal government we have been exploring all legal options to stop the train from moving forward, and we believe this is a step in the right direction. We are continuing to work with members of congress on redirecting this money to fixing our crumbling roads and bridges.

On Education: Supports charter schools and choice, not one-size-fits-all

We need a plan to recruit, retain, and reward great teachers while implementing a plan that removes burdensome, one-size-fits-all mandates. This will allow good schools to succeed and help us focus our efforts on turning around failing schools. Walker will expand charter and choice options by removing enrollment and eligibility caps on schools choice and virtual charter schools.

On Environment: Delist wolf & implement land use policy that benefit people

An independent wolf population study is in order to better understand the wolf population while working on the issue of delisting wolves so that the state can regain control of the population and the management plan. This is a state issue and the state of WI should be in charge of managing wolves rather than the Federal Government. To head Department of Natural Resources, would recruit someone who supports interests of hunters, fishermen, and trappers.

On Immigration: Supports AZ's immigration law and no benefits for illegals

I am disappointed by the federal judge's ruling to block Arizona's right to enforce the rule of law without interference from the federal government. As governor, I will sign similar legislation to the Arizona Law to ensure the taxpayers of Wisconsin are not paying for benefits like Badger Care and in state college tuition for people who are here illegally.

On Health Care: The private sector, not mandates, will fix healthcare

Our plan calls for reducing health care costs through market-driven solutions, not by forcing us to buy an expensive health care mandate.

On Energy & Oil: Supports using traditional energy sources

It's inexcusable that at the same time high taxes are driving jobs and people from our state, Governor Doyle and Mayor Barrett are championing global warming legislation that would mandate billions of dollars in new spending to produce the exact same energy we use today. Wisconsin families will pay a steep price for these costly new regulations in higher utility bills.
