2011 gubernatorial press release: on Corporations

Bill Haslam: Encourage business with low taxes and austere government

Bill is using his experience to get our state through difficult economic times while keeping taxes low and fostering the business-friendly environment that will be critical to continued job growth. State government must be forced to prioritize. By making tough decisions, managing the state budget conservatively, and guiding our state finances back to a position of strength, Bill is helping our state compete in a global economy and attract the jobs of the future to Tennessee.

Brian Sandoval: Lending to small businesses will help create jobs in state

Nevada's State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) application was approved, funds will help create new private sector jobs and spur more than $138 million in additional small-businesses lending in Nevada.

Access to funding is a significant issue for many entrepreneurs seeking to grow. This funding will go a long ways towards helping new small businesses get off the ground and creating jobs for Nevadans. The potential job growth impact of the program is 1,035 positions throughout Nevada.

These consultants have recognized what we knew all along. Alabama is the best place in the nation to open or expand a business."

Terry Branstad: High commercial property taxes mean higher prices

The inability of Senate Democrats to address commercial property taxes means Iowa will continue to have the 2nd highest commercial property taxes in the nation. It will mean residential taxpayers in this state will see historic increases in their property taxes over the next five years as record prices for commodities will trigger a roll up in residential property taxes. I will not let this issue be pushed aside and will take steps to bring it to the Legislature's attention in the future.

Jack Dalrymple: Positive business climate results in ND leading US in growth

Leading economic indicators show that North Dakota's economy continues to grow and diversify as the state adds new jobs, increases wages and expands its domestic and international business interests.

North Dakota leads all other states in economic growth, with a 7% increase in gross domestic product in 2010. Since 2000, North Dakota's GDP has grown by 90%.

These latest statistics help confirm that our efforts to create jobs and to sustain a positive business climate are getting results.
