2010-2020 Mayor's Office Websites: on Government Reform

Eric Adams: Have city agency data combined on single platform

Nearly all City agencies are siloed, operating separately from one another without sharing data or metrics, often duplicating efforts and resulting in waste, inefficiency and poor delivery of services. By combining all agency metrics onto a single platform and using analytics to track performance in real time, we can go from a reactive management approach to being proactive and, eventually, predictive. This will improve performance and save billions of dollars.

Eric Adams: Create schoolwide initiatives encouraging voter registration

We will create school-wide pre-registration initiatives that encourage students to register while demystifying the voting process, as well as introducing them to the systems that taken together make up our democracy, from community boards to elected officials' offices, our court systems to the press, as well as the activist community. Understanding the mechanics of precinct council meetings and city council hearings makes a young person much more likely to actively participate in our democracy.

Shaun Donovan: Let non-citizens with green cards vote in city elections

We must extend voting rights to non-citizen New Yorkers in order to include them in the civic processes at the heart of our democracy. Federal law prevents non-citizen voting in federal elections, but under a Donovan administration, New York City will allow people with green cards or valid work status to participate in municipal elections for mayor, borough president, city council. If we want to empower immigrant communities, we must ensure that they have a voice in how our city is run.

Andrew Yang: Appoint small business czar to help in recovery efforts

The Yang administration will appoint a head of small business support and recovery so that there is a single responsible party and point of contact for small business owners to help them in their recovery efforts. The appointee will serve as a small business czar to coordinate all efforts across several different offices (Department of Consumer Affairs, Small Business Services, and Office of MWBE) to ensure that the City's bureaucracy is not getting in the way of small businesses opening.

Andrew Yang: Give NYC control over city's transit system

Staten Islanders have some of the worst commutes in the country. The borough now suffers from a severe lack of transportation investment, with the MTA and DOT both consistently deferring critical projects. It's a key reason a Yang administration wants municipal control of the City's transit system--so only the mayor is accountable for the success or failure of our transit system and that each borough and each neighborhood has more of a voice in transit planning in their neighborhood.

Bill de Blasio: Battle corrupting influence of corporate money in politics

During my time in public office, I've taken on unscrupulous landlords; protected children who were victims of neglect and abuse; battled the corrupting influence of corporate money in politics; fought to repair broken policing policies; and championed working family issues like paid sick leave and living wage laws.

Bill de Blasio: Citizens United is a body blow to our democracy

The Citizens United decision delivered a body blow to our democracy and a fair and equitable election system. Bill de Blasio has successfully pressured companies such as JPMorgan, & Citigroup to adopt policies against spending their corporate treasury dollars in elections. In August 2010, de Blasio also founded the Coalition for Accountability in Political Spending (CAPS), the nation's first and only bipartisan coalition of elected officials dedicated to curbing corporate influence in our elections
