Nancy Mace in 2014 SC Senate debate

On Budget & Economy: Restore some accountability in the budgeting process

Mace fears a "constitutional crisis" if the massive federal government is not reined in. She alleges that the President has "forced policymakers and the American people into uncharted territory by deciding unilaterally what laws he will and will not enforce." Mace recognizes that many Americans have lost confidence in ability of Washington to adequately represent its citizens and pledges to restore the confidence once she is elected.

Specifically, Mace plans to attack the federal spending fiasco in her first term. She wants to see "significant movement" on measures to "restore some accountability in the budgeting process." Mace supports a "cut, cap, and balance approach" that will promote economic growth. Additionally, Mace supports eliminating the income tax and would like to see America move toward a consumption based tax.

On Education: Strongly supports educational choice

The answer to many of America's problems is not government, Mace will tell you. In regard to education, Mace says the federal government is "hurting more than helping." She strongly supports educational choice, but believes any reform to education must be made locally. "Parents, teachers, and local schools, in that order, should be the individuals setting education policy and making decisions about how to educate our young people."

On Principles & Values: Give a conservative voice to the people of South Carolina

As a candidate in the 2014 GOP primary, Mace has been a vocal adversary to Senator Lindsey Graham. She says, "He represents an establishment culture in Washington that is not prepared to handle the realities of the 21st century." If elected, she vows to give voters a voice that, she believes, has been lacking in Senator Graham. "Senator Graham does not vote in the interests of the people he represents." His votes for bailouts, debt increases, and tax hikes "simply isn't conservative," Mace claims. If elected, Mace intends to represent the people of South Carolina by standing on principle. "Too many Republicans in Washington like to negotiate with themselves." she says, "By the time they walk in the room with Democrats, they have already given away the store." Mace believes that the people of South Carolina are in need of real leadership and representatives that speak truth and does not shy away from the difficult decisions.

On Government Reform: Term limits of 12 years for Senate; 6 years for House

U.S. Senate candidate Nancy Mace signed a pledge in favor of term limits. The pledge states: "I, Nancy Mace, pledge that as a member of Congress I will cosponsor and vote for the U.S. Term Limits Amendment of three (3) House terms and two (2) Senate terms and no longer limit."

"Term limits would not only cap the number of years a specific person would serve in Congress, it would limit the power of lobbyists, corporations, and other special interests that invest millions of dollars in the status quo," said Mace.

Mace went on to say, "Today, countless Americans have lost faith in our government. Establishment politicians cannot be trusted. I believe we can fix the mess in Washington, but we need the right tools to make it happen. Term limits are a great place to start, but we also need bold leadership to make it happen."

If elected, Mace plans to serve no more than two terms in the U.S. Senate.

On Government Reform: Term limits are the only way to stop the ruling elitists

Mace focused on political changes in Washington:

"I believe the real fight is between the political class and the working class: the ruling elites are entrenched on one side, and the American people are taking the punches on the other. Well, it's time the American people fight back; it is my firm belief that most Americans are tired of out of control government and the double talk that comes from the career politicians who have put us in this fiscal tailspin with no clue of how to correct course," writes Mace in her new press release titled "Term Limits Are the Only Way to Stop the Ruling Elitists.

"For 59 years, two men have occupied the senate seat now held by South Carolina's senior Senator Lindsey Graham. In fact, the end of his current term will mark 20 years in Washington for Senator Graham. Of course, 20 years of "service" isn't enough for Lindsey Graham, as he has already announced his intention to stay in the beltway for at least six more years."

On Health Care: ObamaCare will be the undoing of our American way of life

I believe ObamaCare will inflict serious harm to our economy and the quality of healthcare in America. In addition, the added burden of the individual mandate and the complete disregard for individual liberty tear at the fabric of what it means to be free.

Long term, ObamaCare will be the undoing of our American way of life. I feel very strongly that we must reverse this terrible policy by using every possible tactic at our disposal; defund, repeal, and legal challenges must all be on the table. We cannot allow beltway pollsters to scare us into surrendering on this defining issue of our time.

Graham said yesterday, "To my Republican colleagues: let's embrace reality. We can't delay or defund at this moment." Senator Graham is a long time dealmaker on Capitol Hill. It's time he quit trying to act as if he is fighting for conservative principles, when, the reality is, he's not.

On War & Peace: Intervention in Syria would bolster al-Qaida

Nancy Mace has said intervention in Syria would just bolster the opposition that's dominated by al-Qaida. "I will stand with the people of South Carolina against Obama's failed leadership and against military action in Syria," she said.

State Sen. Lee Bright, known for his inflammatory claims and bombastic bravado, went even further. "John McCain and Lindsey Graham seem willing to go to the ends of the earth to help the Muslim Brotherhood," he zapped.

Graham never engaged his foes directly, but his comments encapsulated the arduous sell to the public. "I don't want another Iraq or Afghanistan war because that's just not what we need to do," he said, before outlining his support for a contained military strike designed to degrade Syria's ability to deliver chemical weapons in the future and assist those who want to overthrow President Bashar Assad.

On Foreign Policy: No foreign aid to Egypt & countries who are our enemies

Nancy Mace made a clear statement in reference to the challenges in Egypt and the broader Middle East today. "I would not vote to send one penny of foreign aid to countries like Egypt who are then turning around and using our arms and our aid to kill civilians," stated Mace. "I want to ask South Carolinians what message are we sending to others when we allow our senior senator to support this effort? It is clear, US foreign policy is adrift and morally bankrupt under our current leadership in Washington.

"Our enemies are emboldened and we are not supporting our allies in the world by bankrolling corrupt governments in countries that hate our culture, burn our flag and train terrorists to kill Americans and our allies.

"Sen. Graham has stood side by side with our president to support a failed foreign policy. The American people want to know why we continue to send foreign aid to countries who prove time and time again that they cannot be trusted. It's wrong."
