Chris believes now is the time for states to reassert that power. There must be natural tension between the state and federal governments. That tension is a natural protective mechanism to be sure our individual rights are not eroded.
It is time we reminded the President that he has limited authority under the Constitution, and we expect him to obey the Constitution. Chris is a firm believer in the original Constitution and the Tenth Amendment. He believes the government closest to the people is more responsive to the people. He has spoken out against overzealous federal mandates--a one-size-fits-all government approach--that hampers states abilities to best address the needs of their citizens.
Put very simply ObamaCare is an abject failure. It must be stopped, and attempts to stop it must be implemented at every opportunity.
Chris has fought against ObamaCare. He supported legislation requiring Mississippi agencies not participate in the federal government scheme. He was lead counsel on behalf of several Mississippians to sue the federal government on the grounds that the individual mandate was unconstitutional. He has fought against federal attempts to force Medicaid expansion onto our state. As your next United States Senator, Chris McDaniel will keep up the fight to eliminate the tyranny of ObamaCare and the attack on the middle class.
The push for amnesty for illegal immigrants is nothing new. Amnesty was granted to 3 million immigrants in 1986. It did little to solve the problems 27 years ago, and it would do little to solve problems now. The Congressional Budget Office estimates another wave of amnesty would drop wages for American workers for at least the next 12 years, exacerbating an already difficult situation for the next generation of American jobseekers.
McDaniel believes strongly that now is the time for the US to get a handle on the out of control problem of illegal immigration. He believes that starts with border control.
This comes thanks to a bill authored by McDaniel who says with recent bombings in Boston & even terrorist threats the state simply needs to have the law in place. "We have to take a proactive role in combating terrorism. This gives our prosecutors and our justice system another tool to do just that," McDaniel said.
As with any death penalty case, a victim must die as a result of a felony before the crime can warrant death. With this law, terrorism is now one of those felonies, like rape or armed robbery. McDaniel says adding it to the list puts the state in line with federal law. The bill passed the legislature overwhelmingly. McDaniel has submitted this exact bill for several years now.
McDaniel filed a lawsuit in federal court against Obama's healthcare plan last April.
"They are amazing," he said. "They are on the front lines in the fight for life. They're out there letting people know there are other options aside from just aborting the child."
McDaniel said he favors the Personhood Amendment and anything else that promotes the pro-life message. "It's important to discuss it so everyone can understand it," he said. "I hope one day it leads to a culture that embraces life."
McDaniel said that millions of children have been aborted since the passage of Roe vs. Wade in 1973. "Unborn children are children," he said. "They're human beings and should be protected by law."
Amendment 26 would outlaw abortion, human cloning, embryo stem cell research, and other forms of "medical cannibalism."
