There is an increasing risk of catastrophic consequences for problems like long-term climate change, national debt, and many others that took decades to create and will now take decades to fix. Put plainly, when I look to the future I see a world filled with problems that my generation should have solved.
As a scientist I know that these problems can indeed be solved when we use the right approach, when we represent the people first, and most importantly when we stop waiting to address them. The kind of deep social change needed begins with family, builds into a community, a country, and carries all the way through to how our society works as a whole to create liberty and justice for all
Mitchell said the 2014 election will be pivotal. "In 2014, we the people must reclaim the US Senate from the control of career politicians. It is not too late for the Senate to reestablish credibility and restore the confidence of the American people."
The Governor's "Choose Respect" campaign is the most comprehensive and aggressive effort in the state's history to address this horrendous social problem. The initiative focuses on: toughening sentences for sexual assault offenders; expanding law enforcement throughout the State--especially in rural Alaska; increasing services for victims of sexual assault and their families; and undertaking a broad-based public campaign -- through public service announcements, speeches, and marches--to make Alaskans aware of our sexual assault and domestic violence epidemic, give victims strength and dignity, and encourage all Alaskans--but especially Alaska's men--to choose respect.
