On Government Reform:
Unlock the stifling stranglehold the of federal government
Minnesota needs a Senator from Minnesota who has invested his life in the fabric of the people who make our state great. That Senator must strongly protect our personal privacy and liberty, unlock the stifling stranglehold the federal government holds
on Minnesota, and recapture the flexibility we need to run our own state. I know I can be that Senator.I am starting this run for U.S. Senate because I believe America is in trouble.
The personal and religious freedoms that were intended for us by our Founding Fathers are being steadily eroded. Government spending is out of control and unsustainable. Massive debt to foreign countries threatens our sovereignty.
Our children and grandchildren are born into a future as indentured debtors of our country's careless spending. When we are dependent on the government, we are absolutely not free.

On Health Care:
Led bipartisan effort for health and human services reform
I am a real problem solver and face hard decisions head-on. I think outside the box, consider all sides of an issue, and then make a reasoned, thoughtful decision. I have a strong track record of delivering results through principled work in a respectful
manner. In 2011, I led a strong, bipartisan effort to reform Minnesota's health and human services programs--the fastest growing area in Minnesota's budget--that resulted in improved programs and dramatic state savings.

On Principles & Values:
Creator, conscience, and constituents, in that order
We need to change for the better. Congress and the President spend too much time and effort on divisive partisan squabbles that accomplish nothing. The issues confronting us have already crossed party lines. If America is to compete
in the global economy and give our nation the chance to succeed, we need to focus on real solutions, not simply jostle for partisan gain. What happens in Washington--or doesn't happen--has a direct effect on the lives of all Americans.
But first we need leaders who are not afraid to come together to solve problems effectively.
My home-grown Minnesotan values guide me and my personal decision-making priorities of 'Creator, conscience, and constituents,' in that order, provide me guidance for the tough decisions I face in my current elected responsibilities.
