On Budget & Economy: Politicians CANNOT control government spending; time for BBA

United States federal debt currently sits at $17.5 TRILLION dollars! Neither the Republicans nor Democrats are serious about getting our country back to financial health--both parties are beholden to too many special interests, and too worried about re-election, to make necessary reforms to federal spending.

Since it is proven that our politicians CANNOT control government spending, it is time for the U.S. voters to control it for them. A vote for Nathan LaFrance to the U.S. Senate is a vote for a constitutional amendment which forces the federal government to adhere to a balanced budget every year.

A balanced budget will be achieved by phasing out and eliminating the vast federal wealth-transfer programs and by significantly reducing the size and scope of the multitude of federal agencies and administrations in existence today.

On Government Reform: Term limits will accomplish with CFR attempts to do

Nathan believes that firm term limits on members of the US House of Representatives and the US Senate will bring significant benefits to our federal government:
  1. Term limits will serve as a way to achieve some of what was sought through campaign finance reform, since federal politicians will only have one or two re-election campaigns during their time in office. It is the constant fund-raising for re-elections that have caused the massive corruption we see today in Washington.
  2. Term limits will ensure that those chosen to represent us in Washington are in touch with the American people and the issues we face every day. It is ridiculous that career politicians in Washington can be in office for 30, 40, 50+ years; how can they effectively represent the People when they live their entire lives in the Washington "bubble"?
  3. Term limits will help to limit the cronyism / favoritism / power struggles we constantly see playing out in Capitol Hill.

On Gun Control: Attempts at building a federal gun registry are wrong

As your U.S. Senator, Nathan LaFrance will vote AGAINST any bill which seeks to place federal gun controls and restrictions on the American people.

The United States Constitution could not be more clear: "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". In addition, Nathan believes that any attempts at building a federal gun registry are wrong, and will vote AGAINST attempts at creating one.

It is time to fight back against those who seek to take away the gun rights of law-abiding Americans. WE have the right to defend ourselves and our families, at home and in public, against those wishing to do us harm. If the 2nd Amendment is important to you, the choice is simple: vote Nathan LaFrance for United States Senate in 2014!

On Homeland Security: Meta-data collection of phone records is unconstitutional

The US Constitution is clear--Americans have a right to privacy that cannot be violated by the federal government except upon probably cause resulting in a warrant describing the person, place or things to be seized.

Revelations about current NSA domestic spying programs, being run under the direction of the Obama Administration, have shown an almost complete disregard for our Constitutional rights.

Contrary to administration claims, large-scale meta-data collection of Americans' phone records is a violation of privacy. Through this meta-data, the federal government has access to a tremendous amount of personal information on innocent Americans, including who we speak to, how often we speak with people, where we are located when we make or receive calls and the duration of our calls.

New details continue to emerge on other NSA programs, such as email and internet monitoring. As Americans, we must stand NOW and fight for our rights. Nathan LaFrance will fight to reign in the NSA.

On Tax Reform: Replace income tax with national sales tax

Nathan will draft and promote legislation to:
  1. COMPLETELY REPEAL the ENTIRE current federal tax code.
  2. IMMEDIATELY implement a FLAT TAX on personal and corporate income, effective 1/1/15. Every American individual and business will pay this fixed tax rate; no more loopholes, tax shelters, etc.
  3. Implement a NATIONAL SALES TAX to replace ALL income taxes, by 1/1/18. Nathan believes that we should reward productive work in any way we can, and we can do that by not taxing it. By moving to a national sales tax, we will only pay taxes on what we consume, which means our hard work and savings will NOT BE TAXED.
