As a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates I fought to protect life, and received a 100% rating from West Virginians for Life for my stance on pro-life issues. I fought to protect the unborn in the State Legislature and will do so in the U.S. Senate.
I will support legislation, a Life at Conception Act, establishing the principle that life begins at conception. I will also support any legislation that restricts tax-payer money to organizations such as Planned Parenthood, which perform or advocate abortions.
56 million unborn have fallen victim to abortion and it must be stopped today. As your U.S. Senator, there are many ways to protect the unborn, and I will fight for each and every one of them.
Bailouts take money from successful business and provides their profits to their inefficient competitors. It is morally and economically wrong in a free-market system.
I never would have voted for the bank bailouts, AIG bailouts, or auto bailouts, as they are unconstitutional, and directly opposed to free-market values.
I will oppose any and all federal bailouts, and instead will fight to balance the budget, to pay down the National Debt and restore the value of the Dollar. It is time our government starts promoting responsibility and stop rewarding failure.
Coal gives West Virginians affordable power and helps to lower their bills. I oppose using tax-payer money to subsidize alternative energy, while our government targets the destruction of coal mines in West Virginia.
I fought against the Cap-and-Trade bill that was introduced and passed in the West Virginia House of Delegates. I will continue to fight any anti-coal legislation as a U.S. Senator.
While politicians criticize Obama's War on Coal with press statements and TV interviews, I will introduce legislation to eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency. I will also oppose any regulation harmful to the coal industry. Only then will we see our coal industry improve and bring jobs back to West Virginian.
During my time in the West Virginia House of Delegates, I introduced the Firearms Freedom Act, which would prevent federal regulations on firearms manufactured and sold within West Virginia. I received an A rating from the National Rifle Association (NRA) for my stance on guns.
Small businesses are suffering and on the verge of being closed due to the new polices of our current President. West Virginians deserve representation in Washington that won't play party politics to get ahead. If we are to protect small businesses and jobs, we must repeal ObamaCare.
I believe health decisions are between a doctor and their patient. It is time to get government bureaucrats out of West Virginians' decisions with their doctors.
I have signed the "ObamaCare Repeal Pledge" to vote to repeal ObamaCare and against any bill that provides funding to implement or enforce the law. I will vote against legislation that increases government involvement in healthcare. We must use free-market solutions if we are to fix our current health care problems.
As U.S. Senator, I will support legislation that stops sending foreign aid to countries burning our flag.
No one says our immigration is not in need of reform, but before we do anything we must secure our borders first. We must prevent a "path to citizenship" that awards illegals with incentives to break the law.
I do not oppose legal immigration, I believe legal immigration is an important aspect of our country's history. However, we must not award illegal immigrants over legal immigrants.
We must correct and update our current laws to benefit everyone. We must get back to being the land of opportunity and not the land of handouts from the federal government.
This is why I have signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge to oppose any tax increase as your U.S. Senator. I have also signed the Coalition to Reduce Spending Pledge, to vote against any bill that increases the national debt.
I believe spending and taxes are two sides of a coin. I will fight to reduce taxes and cut spending. We need a balanced budget now, as we can simply not afford to pass more debt down to our children.
