Shane Osborn in Survey of 2014 Senate campaign websites

On Gun Control: Oppose any gun or ammunition ban

Shane is a lifetime member of the NRA. He knows that Nebraskans value their 2nd Amendment rights and will be an unapologetic defender of our constitutional freedom to bear arms.

Democrats in Washington have been making a strong push to pass legislation that would pose drastic threats to our freedom. Shane will oppose any gun or ammunition ban that comes to the Senate floor for a vote and will be a voice for law-abiding citizens who don't deserve to have their rights infringed upon.

On Abortion: Adamantly protect the life of the unborn

Shane is adamantly pro-life because he believes that life begins at conception.

In the Senate, Shane will fight to promote policies that preserve the institution of marriage and protect the life of the unborn.

On Civil Rights: Marriage is only between one man and one woman

Shane believes that marriage is a union between one man and one woman and will always work to defend traditional marriage, which he believes is the foundation on which our families and communities thrive.

In the Senate, Shane will fight to promote policies that preserve the institution of marriage and protect the life of the unborn.

On Corporations: Small businesses are the job creators that fuel our economy

Shane knows it's the private sector that creates jobs; not the federal government. Small businesses are the job creators that fuel our economy. Shane wants to see jobs created in innovative industries.

To get the national economy back on track, the federal government needs to cut spending and foster job creation. Instead of incenting small businesses to succeed, the President is curbing business innovation and expansion with new taxes, unsustainable federal spending, and new regulations.

On Free Trade: America should compete in a global, free-market economy

Federal regulations are crippling business development, and are having a negative impact on American families. New regulations won't make our nation more competitive.

The federal government should focus on protecting consumers, and helping ensure American businesses are positioned to compete in a global, free-market economy. From farm and health care policy to regulations impacting the banking and finance, Nebraska businesses face a growing burden of over-regulation.

On Health Care: Repeal ObamaCare; it's government intrusion into free market

From farm and health care policy to regulations impacting the banking and finance, Nebraska businesses face a growing burden of over-regulation. Obamacare represents the single greatest government intrusion into the free market. Shane supports the repeal of Obamacare, replacing it with a policy that restores decision-making to the families and medical providers. As U.S. Senator, Shane will advocate for a return to common sense practices so that business can thrive.

On Homeland Security: Strong voice for America's Veterans

Shane knows we must keep the promises made to our Veterans and their families. As a Veteran who served in Afghanistan, his training and service in the U.S. Navy provided a firsthand understanding of the challenges confronted by Veterans and their families, especially the transition back to civilian life.

Shane helped launch a company that helps disabled Veterans find jobs and start their own businesses. He co-founded the Nebraska Soldiers Foundation to help military families cope with the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and is involved with a foundation supporting Navy Seals and their families.

As a U.S. Senator, Shane will be a strong voice for America's Veterans.

On Tax Reform: Cut taxes; reduce spending; Balanced Budget

Our nation is more than $16 trillion in debt--with trillions more in unfunded liabilities. These burdens will rob future generations of economic freedom.

Nebraskans believe in a limited government, and Shane believes government should be transparent and accountable to taxpayers. As Nebraska State Treasurer, Shane put the state budget online--creating an easy, accessible way to see how tax dollars are spent, he trimmed office staff, and cut his budget.

The jump in federal spending under President Obama has resulted in a government growing too big and too fast.

It's why Shane supports a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and it's why Shane wants to cut taxes and reduce federal spending. That formula has helped grow Nebraska's economy and it's time that message is heard in Washington.
