On Environment:
Our timber, our money: more harvest means more school funds
Rep. Steve Stockman voted Friday for the Restoring Healthy Forests for Healthy Communities Act (HR 1526,) which pumps new revenues, without tax hikes, into rural schools through timber harvesting. "Southeast Texas harvests more timber than Oregon. It's
about time the federal government shared that revenue with our local communities and the people who harvest it," said Stockman. "Our timber, our money. We're delivering long-term funding for generations of Southeast Texas kids, without raising taxes.
I encourage the Senate and President Obama to support it."The bill establishes at least one Forest Reserve Revenue Area within each unit of the National Forest System designated for the sale of trees. Local counties would get 25% of the
revenues from those timber sales. Stockman's vote means more funding for schools, roads and critical county services in rural areas. "Timber built Southeast Texas and now timber can be a steady and reliable way to keep us growing," said Stockman.

On War & Peace:
Syria is Obama's folly: return the Nobel Peace Prize
With President Barack Obama asking Congress for permission to attack Syria, Stockman is offering him a deal. While opposed to the planned attack, Stockman will switch and vote for the resolution only if Obama will honestly answer several questions about
it. "I am prepared to vote in favor of Obama's folly if he can fully and truthfully answer eleven questions about the Syria operation and his bungling of it," said Stockman:- Libya has become a practically failed state.
What will be done in Syria to prevent a repeat of your failures in Libya?
- Why was Egypt not asked to participate in the Syrian process or even consulted on the matter?
- What assurances do you have that Syria's chemical weapons will be secured?
- Should your strikes result in toppling Assad, who will seize control of Syria?
- Should Assad fall, will al-Qaeda and affiliated extremists take control?
- Are you willing to return your Nobel Peace Prize?

On Government Reform:
Preventing voter ID law just aids voter fraud
Congressman Steve Stockman responded to an attempt by the Obama Justice Department to invalidate voter ID laws in Texas: "This is a clear attempt by a lawless White House to aid and abet voter fraud. Whether it is blocking the prosecution of voter
intimidation in Philadelphia, illegally running guns to Mexican drug lords or assisting voter fraud in Texas Barack Obama has decided the rule of law takes a back seat to `Rules for Radicals.'"A Marist poll conducted July 25 shows 83% of minority
voters support voter ID laws. Obama's actions what you see in Venezuela, a president falsely claiming to on behalf of people in order to cover up an unpopular political play.
"I encourage the federal courts to do their constitutional
duty and thwart this latest attempt to abuse presidential power to pervert free and clean elections. The only people with an interest in preventing voter ID are people engaged in voter fraud."

On Energy & Oil:
EPA blocking Exxon coal exports costs Texans 13,000 jobs
Stockman challenged the Obama administration to approve billions of dollars in new infrastructure currently blocked by the Environmental Protection Agency. "This administration is actively blocking billions of dollars of infrastructure improvements,"
said Stockman. "Folks in Southeast Texas are waiting on 13,000 new jobs in and $52 billion in new economic growth that's being held up by the EPA."EPA officials have not taken action on a permit by ExxonMobil to expand its Baytown facility, and on
another company's permit to export coal overseas. "Unless we reform the EPA by streamlining permits and studies and approving the REINS Act the United States will cease to be an economic power," said Stockman.
The Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny, or REINS, Act requires any proposed federal regulation costing more than $100 million to be approved by Congress and signed by the President like a law.

On Principles & Values:
Defend Constitution from the EPA, the FDA, even the PTA
I don't understand the debate in some Republican circles about personal liberties. Americans have rights that no foreign or domestic entity can take away. Those rights are enshrined in our state and national Constitutions. To think
that someone--anyone--can wipe away your right to a trial, your right to your firearms, your right to free speech, or any other right by decree is anathema to freedom. I'll stand up to the EPA, the FDA, even the PTA, to defend them to my last breath.
