Bill Haslam: 35 million visits annually to Tennessee State Parks

There are a lot of things that state government is responsible for and that we're accomplishing that you may not know about. I still learn something new from our departments all of the time. For example:

In 2014, there were fewer accidental fire-related deaths in Tennessee than in any year in recorded history.
Last year, Tennessee had the second lowest number of traffic fatalities of the past 50 years.
Average wait times in our driver services centers have dropped from over 32 minutes in 2011 to under 24 minutes in 2014.
Tennessee State Parks had 35 million visits last year.
The Department of Veteran's Affairs serves about 10 percent of our state, more than half a million veterans and their dependents each year.

Steve Bullock: MT economy depends on hunting & fishing; let's fund LWCF

For the first time in its fifty year history, Congress failed to reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund. LWCF funds have a significant impact on Montana's economy. Active outdoor recreation contributes more than $6.0 billion each year to the state's economy and supports 64,000 jobs. It's estimated that over 950,000 people hunt, fish, or watch wildlife in Montana each year, opportunities made possible in part by funding from the LWCF. Andrew Cuomo: $172M for Environmental Protection Fund

Proposal #15: Increase the Environmental Protection Fund to $172 million: In the 2015-16 Executive Budget, the Governor proposes to raise the Environmental Protection Fund to $172 million dollars, an increase of 28 percent since he took office. The $10 million increase will support increases in fourteen categories, including land conservation, stewardship, and invasive species control and prevention.
