2016 NC Senate race: on Budget & Economy

Chris Rey: As mayor, revitalized downtown & turned around economy

Chris knows what it takes to turn around an economy, because he had done it for his home town: Since his election as Spring Lake's youngest ever mayor, the town has been noted for dramatic change for the better. Key to this has been a revitalization effort of its main street spearheaded by Chris, redevelopment along the blighted Bragg Blvd, and redevelopment of Mendoza Park the communities "flagship" park. Upon his election Chris was noted for his collaborative approach with the Chamber of Commerce and business leaders and aggressive hands on approach to redevelopment.

Chris expanded town services to include a new business incubator, and workforce development programs. His efforts have already seen results with new businesses attracted to the town, a multi-million dollar mixed use development along the town's main corridor, and the replacement of one of the town's most blighted mobile home neighborhoods with new Green-certified low-income housing.
