On Environment: Make sure our planet is habitable for future generations

• We have an obligation to make sure our planet is habitable for future generations, particularly in South Carolina, which stands to bear a large part of the damage done by climate change.
• Climate change is real and we must fund studies to make sure we are prepared for its effects on South Carolina and the nation.
• We need to invest in clean energy infrastructure and stop giving tax breaks to companies that produce environmentally toxic energy.

On Jobs: Raise minimum wage to $15 per hour

• The Federal Minimum Wage must be raised to $15 an hour to provide a living wage for all workers.
• America needs to protect collective bargaining power and promote equal pay for equal work, including overtime.
• America is the richest, greatest nation on earth. We need to find solutions to homelessness and its root causes.

On Abortion: Women choose what is best for their bodies

Women's Health:
• Women need to be able to choose what is best for their bodies and work with their partners to plan for their own families.
• Planned Parenthood provides critical services that enable women across America to get proper healthcare and should be funded. The U.S. Senate needs to pass legislation ensuring this vital funding is in no way diminished.

On Crime: Ban the box: let ex-cons get jobs

Criminal Justice Reform:
• There needs to be federal legislation to "ban the box" that prevents people with criminal histories from gaining meaningful employment.
• Sentencing must reflect the severity of the crime against society; we currently have too many folks serving time for minor drug offenses.
  
  Policing:
• Police are the first responders and protectors of our communities and must be protected, but police departments must also have strong bonds with all parts of the communities they serve.
• We must pass laws that create mechanisms for police accountability that include community oversight.

On Education: Entitlement to quality education, including college

Education:
• All Americans are entitled to a quality education that prepares them to become self-supporting citizens, and this includes college.
• The U.S. Senate must adopt legislation that makes sure that receiving a college education isn't a life sentence of crushing debt.

Gun Violence Prevention:
• Brady Background Checks need to be expanded to cover all gun sales regardless of where they occur and whom they are between. This means closing the "gun show loophole" that currently allows online and low volume sellers to sell guns legally without running a background check on the buyer.
• The "Charleston Loophole" must also be closed. This loophole allows people who have not passed background checks to obtain firearms after waiting only 3 days.

On Health Care: ObamaCare needs to be protected and expanded

Healthcare:
• ObamaCare needs to be protected and expanded to cover all Americans that still do not have health coverage. It is our duty to protect the most vulnerable in our society.
• Veterans have served our country and our country needs to make sure we are funding timely and state-of-the-art treatment for veterans to receive care.
• The elderly need to be protected from exorbitant pricing for drugs that saps them of their limited income.
