Adam Schiff in ABC This Week interviews during 2018

On Foreign Policy: Khashoggi killing is relationship-altering event with Saudis

REP. ADAM SCHIFF (D-CA): I don't find this Saudi account [of the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi] credible at all. I think this ought to be a relationship-altering event for the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, that we ought to suspend military sales, we ought to suspend certain security assistance and we ought to impose sanctions on any of those that were directly involved in this murder. This really ought to be something that causes us to do a reexamination of our relationship with Saudi Arabia.

REP. PETER KING (R-NY): Obviously there was an intent [by the Saudi government] to kill him. But we do have a relationship with Saudi Arabia that we should try to maintain.

SCHIFF: We should send a message that we're not going to tolerate these extrajudicial and extraterritorial killings, and it will have a real consequence. [Otherwise] we have essentially delivered a message that the Saudi family can do what they want where they want and the US will never stand up to them.
