[Tommy was first] elected as Huntsville's mayor in 2008. Mayors don't have anyone to pass the buck to. They roll up their sleeves and find a way to get the job done. For Huntsville and North Alabama, that's meant creating more than 17,000 new jobs,
building $500M new roads and $250M in new schools. Tommy has done that while keeping his government conservative and responsible and receiving 8-straight Triple-A credit ratings and generating $2.5B in economic investment for the city.

21st Century Manufacturing Zone Act: 17,000 new jobs
Battle has served as Huntsville's mayor for eight years. Under his leadership, more than 17,000 new jobs have been created for the area, including the addition of Remington Arms Company and Polaris.
He has taken a fiscally conservative, results-driven approach to creating new jobs and better opportunities for Alabamians.In 2016, Battle worked with leaders across the state to support the Major 21st Century Manufacturing Zone Act.
Approved unanimously by the Alabama State Legislature and overwhelmingly by state voters, the act gave
more authority to local leaders in communities pursuing major economic development and job creating projects.

Conservative values from first job in his dad's restaurant
Tommy Battle has never been afraid of hard work. He was born in Birmingham and had his first job working in his dad's restaurant when I was 14. Tommy went to Berry High School and spent his summers working to pay for college. Shipyards in Mobile, ovens
in Birmingham, usually living in boarding houses.He took that work ethic with him to the University of Alabama. He studied business, served on the SGA, and Alabama's champion debate team--though It was in the Alabama Republican Party where he found
his passion for public service.
After college his first job was as manager of Britling on the Highland in Birmingham. He moved to Huntsville in 1980 and was elected to the city council in 1984, before being elected as Huntsville's mayor in 2008.
He was re-elected in 2012 and again in 2016, receiving more than 80% of the votes cast in both elections.
Everything Tommy has done in his life has been built on the conservative values he learned from his dad at that first job way back when.
