Bob Stefanowski in 2018 CT Governor's race
On Tax Reform:
Eliminate the state income tax over the next 8 years
Democrat Ned Lamont said that Trump's tax plan forces the federal budget into a $800-billion increase in the federal deficit. "It's the middle-class, the working class that gets hammered by a tax bill like this," Lamont said. "You think about this
Trump tax bill. It reminds me a little of the (proposed) Stefanowski elimination of the state income tax. We cannot borrow in this state. We must pay our bills." Stefanowski disagreed with
Lamont's premise. "Ned concentrating on state and local deductions ignores the root of the problem, which is that he and Dan Malloy have supported tax increase after tax increase," said a
Stefanowski spokesman. "Stefanowski wants to completely eliminate the state income tax over the next 8 years, which would actually solve the problem rather than mask it, as Ned Lamont seeks to do."

On Civil Rights:
I'm a civil rights Republican, not a white nationalist
The Republican nominee for governor, Bob Stefanowski, attended a recent birthday bash for top Trump economic adviser Larry Kudlow where a Connecticut resident who runs a website that has been a platform for white nationalists was also present.
Stefanowski said that he does not know [the white nationalist] and did not know he was at the party. I `totally, utterly disagree with that point of view and have my whole life. I'm a civil rights Republican.'

On Gun Control:
No more gun controls; gun owners have been persecuted
Stefanowski, a retired corporate executive, was on stage for the first time with his four rivals: Mark Boughton, Timothy Herbst, Steve Obsitnik and David Stemerman. All five also opposed efforts at passing further gun controls in
Connecticut, a state that expanded background checks to purchase firearms and ammunition and banned large-capacity magazines and certain assault-style weapons. Stefanowski said Malloy has "persecuted" gun owners.

On Abortion:
Don't make abortion illegal; but parental notification ok
[The moderator] asked the candidates how they would approach abortion. No one on the stage was open to making abortion illegal. Stemerman and Stefanowski offered no opinion on abortion from the stage. After the debate, they called the issue a
distraction from fiscal and economic challenges. Herbst has said in other venues, Stefanowski said off stage he would support a law requiring parental notification for a minor to get an abortion.

On Budget & Economy:
Smart, responsible fiscal reform will turn around economy
Dan Malloy and the liberal politicians in Hartford have ruined our economy. We don't need any more liberal taxes and crippling regulations.
We need smart and responsible fiscal reform! #CTPolitics
