On Immigration:
New policy for legal immigration: more border security
Gene will fight for a compassionate policy that prioritizes legal immigration. Our current immigration policy has been broken for decades. Any meaningful reform must provide for an increase in
border security to reduce both human trafficking and illegal drugs crossing our borders. Gene believes that existing laws related to immigration should be enforced. It is our laws and our constitution that make our country strong.

On Drugs:
Federal marijuana regulations should reflect the state's
Truono stated that he supports ending federal prohibition and allowing states to decide the laws with marijuana regulations. "The issue that we need to implement is to remove marijuana as a Schedule 1 substance for
those states that have changed the law to legalize even recreational marijuana, and the reason why that is, is because states' rights are supreme to the federal government... but I do not have a problem with recreational or medical marijuana," he said.

On Civil Rights:
Constitution's inferred rights cover LGBT rights
Truono's website says that if elected he "will fight for equality and justice," but it doesn't specifically mention LGBT rights. "Mr. Truono believes that the LGBT community is currently protected under the enumerated rights of the Constitution,"
Truono's campaign manager said. "He believes the safeguards under the Constitution protect all individuals. Therefore Mr. Truono would not become a cosponsor of the Equality Act as currently written and pending in the U.S. Senate."

On Gun Control:
Double headline - Already Done
On the issue of gun control, Boyce said, "I will always be a strong supporter of the Second Amendment." He added that "there would need to be some colossal threat to our country" before he would consider "any type of action that reduced our rights
under the constitution."Truono said he also supports the Second Amendment, "and I don't think taking away people's guns will solve this problem. The real issue here, as we've seen, is that this is a mental health issue, which is an issue that
this country has failed to address over and over and over again."
Truono said he supports instantaneous background checks "like we do credit reports for instant credit. He also said limiting the use of accessories that increase
the fire power of a weapon "is something we should have a discussion about." He added that he feels that "every school, every church should do a risk assessment" regarding its vulnerability to gun violence.

On Immigration:
Supports comprehensive immigration reform, and address DACA
Candidates Chuck Boyce and Gene Truono addressed 10 questions on a range of subjects. Boyce said he supports President Donald Trump's proposed border wall, as well as "21st-century solutions." He said the wall is going to "cost a lot of money and
it's going to take a lot of time, and it's a 6th-century solution to a 21st-century problem."Truono said, "Let's just be honest--our immigration system is broken. It takes far too long for people to come into this country legally."
He called the issue "a can that Congress has kicked down the road" and said he supports currently proposed comprehensive immigration legislation but he said he feels it is unlikely it will pass during the current Congressional session.
He said he supports the border wall and ending so-called "chain migration" but feels that Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) should be addressed in exchange for those.
