Lupe Valdez:
Economy should provide security & opportunity
This is about an economy that provides economic security, opportunity and inclusivity. Anyone working 40 hours a week should be able to earn a living wage and provide for their family. We must truly break down the barriers and level the playing field
for women in the economy by make sure there is equal pay for equal work. Lastly, workers, small businesses, innovators, and entrepreneurs all agree that it's time to embrace the fact that we are the most diverse state in the country.

An economy that works for all Floridians
If we want to create a state with better-paying jobs and an economy that works for all Floridians, it starts with raising the minimum wage, investing in public education,
paying our teachers a fair wage, protecting and preserving our environment, and taking serious steps to curb the threat of gun violence.

Mike Parson:
Supports economic growth with accountability on taxes
Mike has worked hard to pursue policies that will help promote economic growth and protect Missouri taxpayers. He led the way on the Right to Farm effort, helping to protect Missouri's number one industry--agriculture--
from out-of-state interest groups. He also supported 2014's landmark tax cut legislation, the first across-the-board tax cut in nine decades.

Mike Dunleavy:
Out of control spending has to stop; but taxing won't work
Some politicians tell us that Alaska's operating budget has been cut to the bone. This is nonsense. The most recent budget spends over 13% more than the year before.
If we don't get our spending under control, no combination of taxes and PFD grab can keep up. [PFD is the Permanent Fund Dividend, a $1,600 payment to every Alaska resident. Gov. Walker reduced the PFD to $1,022 in 2016]

Make better jobs cutting taxes, regulations and wastefulness
Bill will cut taxes, regulations and wasteful spending to strengthen our economy and create better paying jobs. He will champion vocational education, so whether our high school graduates are college-ready or job-ready, they will be ready.
He will prepare students for careers in the skilled trades, ensuring multiple pathways to progress in our 21st century economy and a secure place in America's middle class.

History of developing budget based on needs of the community
While the state budget process remains a mess, Mick knows budgeting is about priorities and leadership. Mick has played a key role in developing Oklahoma City's annual budget transparently based on the consensus needs of the community.
For years Oklahoma City has received the highest possible credit rating and keeps a rainy day fund equal to 15% of the annual budget. All MAPS projects were completed debt free with complete accountability to the taxpayer.

Rebuild economy that doesn't leave anyone behind
Make It In Maryland: Building A More Inclusive, Thriving Economy. Wage growth for Maryland's families have fallen behind under Governor Hogan and we need new leadership to create an economy that is truly inclusive and meets the needs of our state.
As a businessman and civil rights leader, I know how to build an economy that leaves no family behind, no worker behind, no young person behind and no person behind who has paid their debt to society and deserves a second chance.

Paulette Jordan:
The way to a strong economy is investing in innovation
It's a simple fact that Idaho's economy is suffering. Local businesses struggle to keep doors open and many workers cannot provide for their families on a full-time salary. These economic realities hit our rural towns the hardest.
As governor, I will revitalize our economy in every part of our state by investing in innovation and expanding opportunity, especially in rural areas.

Yancey McGill:
Audit the budget and the state pension fnud
Here's are some elements of my plan to lower taxes:- ANNUAL AUDIT OF STATE BUDGET: We will initiate and enforce a yearly, transparent audit of the state budget and expenditures in conjunction with a yearly audit of each state agency. This will
help put an end to the corruption and gross mismanagement of your tax money. By eliminating waste, we will free up millions of dollars, and be able to lower taxes.
- FULL AUDIT OF STATE PENSION FUND: We will enact a full audit, and share those results
with the public. We must restore accountability by making sure that the Investment and Retirement Commission answers to the entire state. This lack of accountability has led to the state's pension fund becoming a black hole.
- SHRINK THE SIZE OF MOST
STATE AGENCIES BY 5%: I will evaluate every state agency, cut back bloated budgets, eliminate chummy contracts, and shrink the size of our state government. Core services such as law enforcement and first responders will not be affected.

David Garcia:
15-county strategy to invest in Arizona businesses
We need to put Arizona first which means investing in and supporting Arizona businesses and entrepreneurs every chance we get. It means prioritizing and encouraging the use of local businesses for public contracts and encouraging local investment in
Arizona innovation. Putting Arizona first means that we have a 15-county strategy that invests beyond Maricopa and Pima Counties and identifies and supports the economic engines in the rural parts of our state.
One way to grow our agricultural economy is to improve sustainable agriculture and value-added agriculture practices, including craft breweries, vineyards, locally grown and made products, and farmers markets.
Arizona's agriculture industry already has a $23 billion impact on our state's economy and there's more room to grow. Improving sustainable irrigation techniques through technology will also benefit farm driven communities.

Requested pay cut & budget cut as County Commissioner
Requested that the Boards of County Commissioners cut my salary to the lowest in Colorado, despite responsibility for the largest office in the most populous jurisdiction. Although our caseload has increased significantly, the office
budget grew less than the budgets of the State of Colorado, the Public Defender's Office, the Attorney General's Office, the Treasurer's Office and the District Attorneys' Offices in Denver, Boulder and others.

Cary Kennedy:
$5.1M annual earnings from diversifying city investments
As CFO of Denver, Cary led the charge to change the City Charter to allow Denver to diversify where the city invests its money while maintaining the safety of those investments.
With this change, Cary expanded Denver's investment portfolio to include the same securities as the State Treasurer's Office.
This move has already increased earnings by $5.1 million annually and Denver citizens will now permanently see a larger increase on the city's investment returns.
Cary helped develop balanced budget packages for both Denver (2A in 2012) and Colorado (Referendum C in 2005) that were approved by voters.

Victor Mitchell:
To save jobs, we must halt any kind of tax increase
Feeling he could accomplish more for Colorado and the business community outside the legislature, he turned his attention to founding an organization, Save Colorado Jobs, that lead the statewide campaign
to defeat Prop 103 in 2011, a ballot measure that would have increased both the state income and sales tax rates, and been the largest tax increase in Colorado's history.

Victor Mitchell:
In an over regulated Colorado, regulations need to be cut
Colorado has become horribly over regulated, on day one I plan to bring in a team of the smartest best brightest people who work in private industry here in Colorado. And those people are gonna be tasked with one thing which is to go through
all our regulations and determine which ones can either be cut entirely or need to be materially modified. This is very important because this is stifling innovation and this is stifling the ability for young people to take on vocational carriers.

Closed $40M deficit in city of Newton & maintained services
When he took office, Newton was in the midst of a financial crisis. The city was facing a $40 million projected deficit and an empty rainy day fund.
Setti worked closely with unions and community members to create a balanced budget without sacrificing vital services that residents depended on.
Today, the city is one of a few select municipalities to earn two AAA bond ratings and has a rainy day fund approaching $20 million. While under Setti's leadership, Newton's innovation-based economy has been reinvigorated.
The city has slashed its carbon footprint while investing in housing, transportation, and infrastructure projects that reduce inequality and strengthen the community.

Casey Cagle:
Expect state government to balance budget & reduce waste
Georgia's Constitution requires a balanced budget, and our citizens should be proud that we have weathered the recent economic downturn without raising taxes. This has taken some belt tightening on the part of government. However, if Georgia families
can balance their checkbooks, then we should expect our state government to do the same.Lt. Gov. Cagle has led the way by creating new avenues for citizens to report government waste, and fighting to eliminate unneeded programs from the state budget.
This hard work has resulted in Georgia government running leaner than ever, and is why our state is one of only a handful that enjoys a top credit rating.
We must remain vigilant in the fight against government waste. As our economy improves, there
will be those who want to create new programs without careful thought. The better choice is to be wise, prudent and careful with taxpayer funds, ensuring our state rebuilds its rainy day fund and continues to reduce the tax burden on our citizens.

Gary Richardson:
Curb wasteful spending in our state government
I hate to see waste. I have been that way my entire life and typically, if not always, see no good reason for waste. I see and hear "Let's be less wasteful as a state." Yet my own past experiences and observations cause me to believe that the attitude
of Oklahoma taxpayers has little effect on curbing wasteful spending in our state government. As an Assistant Insurance Commissioner, I observed an immense amount of wasteful spending both in the hiring of unneeded staff as well as in expenditures.
For example, at the end of the year, we would be encouraged to make requests for new furniture to make sure we spent all of our budget. This is not the way to spend our tax dollars!
We must investigate the entire state government and address any
misuse or wasteful spending our tax dollars. The only way to deal with this systematic corruption and waste is to demand a forensic audit of these agencies, trusts, and authorities. Only then can we truly know if every dollar is spent wisely.

Tommy Battle:
$750M in city spending to generate $2.5B private investment
[Tommy was first] elected as Huntsville's mayor in 2008. Mayors don't have anyone to pass the buck to. They roll up their sleeves and find a way to get the job done. For Huntsville and North Alabama, that's meant creating more than 17,000 new jobs,
building $500M new roads and $250M in new schools. Tommy has done that while keeping his government conservative and responsible and receiving 8-straight Triple-A credit ratings and generating $2.5B in economic investment for the city.

Wink Hartman:
Low balanced budget without political gridlock
As a small-businessman, I understand the basic truth that you can't spend more than you make. For too long, the Kansas Budget has been a political football that has created enormous uncertainty and political gridlock. That has to change. If elected,
I will work with legislative and business leaders throughout the state to create a balanced budget that meets the needs of government, provides stability to Kansas families and businesses and doesn't spend a single taxpayer dollar more than necessary.

Chris Countryman:
Prepare financially for new, or expanding, state programs
In recent years, Alabama has gained a tarnished image in the eyes of the nation, as well as the citizens within the state. Gone are the memories of songs that flaunt the beauty of the our state. These are now replaced with vivid reminders that our
current state administration has abused their power and authority for personal gain, advancement of propaganda, and irresponsible financial decisions that directly affect each and every tax paying citizen. Because of this many citizens have questioned
whether or not Alabama can once again become a state of progress, or if it is doomed to continue impacting citizens in a negative way, and eventually leading to the complete bankruptcy of the state. Because of these real and valid concerns,
Christopher A. Countryman, is committed to balancing the state budget, creating a surplus in the states general fund, adequately funding current programs, and preparing financially for new, or expanding, state programs.

Prasad Srinivasan:
Connecticut regulations are choking growth
I moved to Connecticut in 1980. I chose Connecticut because it was then a state that had everything going for it. Fast-forward to now, and we see our state spiraling downwards. Our businesses, large and small, are leaving our state.
People are moving out of the state. Young people do not see the same opportunities that drew us to Connecticut in 1980.This pattern has to end. We can make it happen. Our businesses tell us repeatedly that our regulations are
choking growth, that our business climate is unpredictable and that we are taxed to the point that it is difficult to compete. Without strong businesses, people in Connecticut will not have the jobs and opportunities they need to provide
for their families. We therefore must ensure that our businesses, the backbone of our state's economy, flourish. When businesses do well, we all do well. But when businesses fail, poverty and unemployment follow.

Chris Kennedy:
Invest in economic incubators; create jobs for our kids
If we invest in economic incubators, we can keep our children close to home. They will not need to leave our state to find jobs, they will not be forced to leave their families to seek work, they can stay in the towns they grew up in,
and they can rely on their parents and uncles and aunts to help raise their children and pass on the values that they learned there as well. Governor Rauner's cuts to these incubators are destroying our ability to create jobs in the future,
which is critical to restoring the American Dream in our state. Rauner and his Republican allies fooled us once in 2014, and shame on them. Let's not let the Republicans get away with fooling us again in this year's election.
He's cut off funding for tourism agencies and convention bureaus, shrinking our economy as he does so. He has gutted funding for higher education and economic incubators all around the state."

No more handouts for big corporations
"Just last week it was announced that a tax break for manufacturers, originally projected to cost the state $21.3 million, is now estimated to cost closer to $100 million," said McGuire. "The state of Iowa simply cannot afford an administration
who saddles us with an $80 million 'oops'. It's clear that we need new leadership to change the direction of our state. No more handouts for big corporations; instead, we must put Iowa's workers and families first."

Strategize for economic development in rural Iowa
In order to implement the best ideas to help strengthen our rural economies, I'll create a division within the Iowa Department of Economic Development to bring together local economists, business leaders, and educators in our communities to strategize
the best path forward for job creation. I believe that the best way to encourage economic development is to approach it at the local level because what may work for one town in eastern Iowa may not work for a similar town in western Iowa.

John Chiang has aggressively used his independent fiscal oversight power to audit state and local government programs. He has found over $8 billion in government waste, fraud, abuse and inefficiency--far more than any previous Controller.
