Andy McGuire: Unfair trade deals shut down factories & ship jobs overseas

I know that here in Iowa we have some of the hardest working people who want to earn an honest paycheck so they can support their families. Unfortunately, the recession has left many out of work while unfair trade deals shutdown factories and shipped jobs overseas. While we have begun to see the reemergence of American manufacturing, more must be done to ensure that everyone who wants a job can get one.

It is clear that more must be done to jumpstart our economy and ensure everyone has a chance to get a good paying job. As governor, I'll look for new solutions to attract and retain businesses here in Iowa, make sure economic development reaches all four corners of our state, support policies that ensure employees are compensated fairly and receive the benefits that they deserve, and dedicate additional resources to job training programs.

Steve Barlock: Renegotiate NAFTA to reduce restrictions on Colorado

I fully support the actions of President Trump and Secretary Zinke relating to working with Utah regarding a more cooperative stance on the use of federal lands than the Obama administration had followed. I am hopeful that President Trump will renegotiate NAFTA to allow the Colorado timber industry to expand including the clearing and use of beetle kill to mitigate the impact of forest fires in our state.

Ed Perlmutter: Opposed Free-Trade Agreements with Korea, Panama & Colombia

As a Democrat who understands employer and employee issues, Ed has a strong record of standing up for working families, small businesses and supporting U.S. jobs from being lost overseas. Ed also opposed recent Free-Trade Agreements with Korea, Panama and Colombia, as well as opposed giving the Obama Administration "Fast Track" authority to rush future agreements through Congress. Previous free trade agreements have not always panned out as promised. We must address the currency manipulation abuses from our trading partners who seek to devalue their currencies in an effort to make their goods cheaper and ours more expensive abroad. That is why Ed supports changing the law making it harder for countries who devalue their currency the ability to import to America.
