Survey of 2018 House campaign websites: on Abortion

Kim Schrier: Considers an attack on Planned Parenthood an attack on women

As a doctor and a woman, I trust women to make their own personal decisions about health and family planning. I have always supported a woman's right to choose. Control over our own bodies and reproductive choices is a key measure of women's equality. I will fight to increase funding for Planned Parenthood and consider any attack on Planned Parenthood to be an attack on women. Contraception should be widely available and covered by insurance.

John Rose: Life begins at conception; defund Planned Parenthood

I am Pro-Life. I support the life of the unborn and always have. Life begins at conception and should be protected. My wife and I just had our first child, Guy, and the blessing of knowing that his life was created by God is unmatched. I will vote to defund Planned Parenthood. Instead, I support the work of our local women's service providers as they help women without performing or encouraging abortions. I hope to represent this district as a Christian man who will protect Tennessee values.

William Timmons: I believe all life starts at conception

I am proudly pro-life and I believe all life starts at conception. I will defend the God-given right to life and actively support pro-life legislation. As a State Senator and private citizen I have promoted adoption, foster care, and Big Brothers-Big Sisters programs and will continue to make these a priority as your Congressman.

Anthony Gonzalez: Life begins at conception; endorsed by Ohio Right to Life

As the only candidate in this race that has been endorsed by Ohio Right to Life, I believe that life begins at conception and that all efforts must be made to protect the lives of the unborn. God's greatest gift to this world is the life of a child, and I will work alongside anyone who is committed to the cause of life.

Kelly Armstrong: Supports Hyde Amendment & defunding of Planned Parenthood

Kelly believes that life is sacred and has been a defender of life at all stages. In Washington, he will work to finally pass the 20-week abortion ban and do all he can to promote the pro-life agenda. He supports the Hyde Amendment's ban on using federal funds for abortion and supports diverting funding from Planned Parenthood into Community Health Centers that do not perform or encourage abortion.

Kelly Armstrong: Ban abortion after 20 weeks

Kelly cosponsored the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Act. Together these bills would ban abortion after 20 weeks and would require a healthcare provide to provide care to any child who exhibits signs of life after an abortion procedure. He also co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act which affirms an unborn child's right to life under the 14th Amendment.

Lauren Underwood: Support access to safe, legal, and affordable abortions

I support women's rights to the full range of reproductive health services, without restrictions. This includes access to safe, legal, and affordable abortions.

Sean Casten: Keep birth control affordable and accessible

We must support and expand women's rights and opportunities. Keep birth control affordable and accessible. Defend and restore access to safe, legal abortions. Stand with Planned Parenthood by supporting the important work they do in providing essential health and reproductive care.

Jason Crow: I will always fight to protect a woman's right to choose

I will always fight to protect a woman's right to choose. Women should have the right to make healthcare decisions that are right for them and their families. I have fought to protect a woman's right to choose, while simultaneously working to continue funding critical resources like Planned Parenthood. I will continue to ensure that protections for maternity care are not removed from our health care laws and that families are able to take paid sick leave.

Michael Cloud: I am 100% pro-life

A foundational moral principle in our nation is the understanding that every life has value. I believe life begins at conception and will continue to work to ensure each child is given the opportunity to experience the most basic of rights--the right to life. I am 100% pro-life.

John Joyce: Will fiercely defend the right to life

When I graduated from medical school, I took the Hippocratic Oath in which I pledged to never perform, assist or support an abortion. This is an oath I have not only taken but have lived by every day. I am staunchly pro-life. I know that we have the moral obligation to protect the most vulnerable in our society--our unborn children. I will fiercely defend the right to life in Congress.

Lizzie Pannill Fletcher: Access to reproductive healthcare is not negotiable

Access to reproductive healthcare is essential to all Americans' ability to control their lives. It is a matter of health, economics, [and] justice. It is not negotiable. Protecting women's access to safe and affordable health care is one of my top priorities. I will work to protect the Title X Family Planning Program and access to affordable reproductive health services. I will support policies to encourage access to contraception. And I will always stand up for the right to choose.

Max Rose: Will fight any effort to restrict woman's right to choose

Max will protect public health through continued funding for Planned Parenthood, which provides much-needed health services to so many communities. He will fight any effort to restrict a woman's right to choose.

Mikie Sherrill: Woman's health decisions should be between her, her doctor

I am pro-choice. A woman's health decisions should be between her and her doctor. The federal government should have no say on when, how, or with whom women decide to start or grow a family. I will be a forceful voice against efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, restrict access to birth control, and efforts to limit a woman's access to safe family planning services.

Dean Phillips: Supports reproductive rights, paid family leave

Dean supports paid leave policies that would allow women--and men--to care for a newborn or aging family member without risk of losing their jobs. Dean supports the protections provided in the Affordable Care Act that prevent women from being charged more than men, and he opposes efforts to repeal or undermine them. He is pro-choice and will work to ensure that women have access to comprehensive, high-quality and affordable care--including reproductive care--throughout their lives.

Angie Craig: No one should ever come between a woman and her doctor

I support full reproductive rights for women and access to contraception and family planning services. No one should ever come between a woman and her doctor when making these decisions. The dangerous proposals that seek to eliminate contraceptive and family planning services coverage from the ACA guarantee must be stopped, and I will stand against them. I support Planned Parenthood and will continue to fight to protect their funding.

Haley Stevens: I will fight for women's reproductive freedom

FI support a woman's right to choose and I do not think federal lawmakers should be injecting themselves into women's reproductive matters. I will fight for women's reproductive freedom and will oppose the Trump Administration's attempts to defund Planned Parenthood and deny women insurance for birth control. These attacks on women's rights must stop.

David Trone: Fight for women's right to choose; he's 100% pro-choice

I'm 100% pro-choice. Medical decisions should be made by women and their doctors, not politicians like Donald Trump and Mike Pence. The Trump administration, the Republican Congress, and Republican state legislatures all around the country are trying to eliminate access to reproductive health services. I will fight these efforts and support legislation that ensures women have access to contraception and safe and legal abortion.

Deb Haaland: Backs women's right to make their own reproductive decisions

I support a woman's right to choose when and how to have a child, full access to contraception and believe that everyone should have access to affordable healthcare--which means we need to expand access to abortion care. Far too many rural women, poor women, and women of color simply do not have access to the healthcare they need to stay healthy. I believe that we need to protect access to care, not just choice about that care.

Kevin Hern: All life is sacred and begins at conception

Kevin believes that all life is sacred and begins at conception, and will lead the way in Washington on pro-life issues and give voice to the voiceless.

Ayanna Pressley: Abortion is a woman's right

Protecting a woman's right to reproductive health services, including abortion, has been one of the most important fights of Ayanna's career. On the Boston City Council, she pushed to repeal the Hyde Amendment, in order to ensure that women, regardless of income or healthcare provider, have access to abortion services. She will continue to be a fierce advocate for reproductive justice rights in Congress, and push to repeal the ban on Federal funding being used to cover abortion services.

Debbie Lesko: Life begins at conception and must be protected

I'm a strong believer that life begins at conception and we must protect the most vulnerable among us. Because of my strong pro-life record, I am the only CD8 candidate to be endorsed by the Susan B. Anthony List, a important national pro-life organization and I have consistently been endorsed by Arizona Right to Life, have a 100% rating with the Center for Arizona Policy and been named "Friend of the Family" by the Arizona Family Project.
