Survey of 2018 House campaign websites: on Environment

Kelly Armstrong: Crack down on environmental extremist protesters

Kelly supported new rules to crack down on extremist protesters. The DAPL protests exposed some serious flaws in our century code and Kelly supported legislation that strengthened our laws and provided our law enforcement the tools they need to defend us against people who have no respect for our laws or our citizens. No longer will out-of-state environmental extremists get away with causing destruction and chaos in North Dakota.

Michael Cloud: We don't need the EPA passing intrusive regulations

Texans are leaders in agriculture and the best stewards of Texas land. Our farmers and ranchers do not need the EPA or other government agencies interfering with property rights or passing unnecessary, intrusive regulations. We must continue to pursue energy independence.

Mikie Sherrill: Construct a new rail tunnel to New York

For more than two decades, we've waited for the construction of a new rail tunnel to New York. The Northeast produces 20% of our nation's GDP and moving this project forward will help our national economy by creating jobs, attracting businesses, and making our workers more productive by cutting commuting times. The federal government must honor its agreement and commit to funding its share of the Gateway project.

Dean Phillips: Keep aquatic invasive species out of our lakes and rivers

Invasive species have infested lakes in and around Minnesota. Preventing international ships from dumping their ballast water in the Great Lakes and spreading invasive species requires federal action. Dean will work to build on multi-state compacts and cooperation between governments at all levels in the Great Lakes region. Dean will support federal research into new treatment methods, so that infestation by aquatic invasive species will no longer be a death sentence for a lake.

Jahana Hayes: Pro-actively protect natural assets, waterways, & open space

We are fortunate to have several important lakes and rivers. These waterways provide a venue for both passive and active recreation; they have and continue to be local economic drivers. We must do all we can to preserve and protect these natural assets. We have to be proactive to address algae blooms and invasive species. I am ready to fight for open space and funds to clean up Brownfields. I will be a strong voice and vote to preserve, protect, and enhance our environment.

David Trone: Against proposal to cut EPA budget by $2.5B

Trump's proposed FY 2019 budget would cut $2.5 billion in funding from the EPA. These cuts would be devastating to an agency that is already stretched thin. The EPA was created by Republican President Richard Nixon. Democrats and Republicans should be able to work together to ensure that the agency has the funding it needs to carry out its important mission.

Deb Haaland: Fight for access to clean water, air, and housing

We need to act fast to counteract climate change and keep fossil fuels in the ground. I pledge to vote against all new fossil fuel infrastructure and to fight for 100% clean energy. I will fight for tribal nations across the country who are battling the fossil fuel industry in their backyards. I will fight for all families for access to clean water, air, and housing that allows us to raise our families with dignity. We need strong environmental protections to ensure this across industries.

Lori Trahan: Hold responsible those who pollute the biosphere

Lori will hold those who sully the environment and pollute the biosphere responsible for their actions. Clean air and clean water are human rights. Lori knows that low-income communities of color are disproportionately saddled with high levels of pollution and toxic hazards. Lori understands that climate change will affect low-income and minority communities. Lori will work towards comprehensive climate change policies that do not leave any demographic behind.

Ayanna Pressley: Empower the EPA; strengthen clean air & water laws

Donald Trump and the Republican Congress have shown their desire to roll back important regulations on pollution, eliminate protected lands, and permit destructive practices like offshore oil exploration that jeopardize public health and put the interests of big polluters ahead of children and families. Ayanna will fight to empower the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and strengthen laws that keep our air and water clean.
