John Rose: Fund the military at level for protection country needs

I support our troops. I believe we must equip them for success in their mission by adequately funding the military. Young men and women risk their lives to protect America. America needs to be sure our troops have the manpower and resources to accomplish their task. I will vote to fund the military at a level that will allow for the protection this country needs.

Tim Burchett: Veterans should be able to get care wherever they choose

Veterans make up one percent of our population, but we owe them 100 percent of our freedoms. After the VA scandal, Congress passed new reforms, but the Veterans Administration still has too much control over our veterans' care, and veterans are still hamstrung by red tape and bureaucracy. Vets should have the choice to get care wherever they choose.

William Timmons: The US only experiences true peace through strength

The United States Armed Forces have protected the people of this nation for over 200 years and they must be given the resources they need to do their jobs. President Reagan was right - we will only experience true peace through strength. I will always stand with the men and women who have honorably served our nation in the military. I will fight to make sure every veteran gets the benefits and medical care to which he or she is entitled.

Xochitl Torres Small: Fully funded and staffed VA; including mental health

I am committed to fight for a VA that is fully funded, fully staffed, and accessible to veterans wherever they are. That means making sure all veterans have more accessible transportation options available to them. It also means ensuring that veterans have access to the most up-to-date and effective treatments, including for mental health conditions like PTSD and depression. Mental health treatment must be a priority if we are to reduce the staggering number of veteran suicides.

Jason Crow: We must fight to protect veterans' benefits

We must fight for those who fought for us by protecting veterans' benefits, improving the benefits claims system, and improving access, quality, and timeliness of VA health care. We must fulfill our promises by protecting their medical care, access to mental health resources, compensation for service-connected disabilities, education benefits, and by helping them transition to civilian life to include meaningful employment.

Elaine Luria: Provide a critical pay raise for disabled veterans

As a member of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, I wrote and passed legislation that provided a critical pay raise for disabled veterans, pressed the VA to find ways to make jobs programs easier to use, cosponsored legislation to increase veteran access to employment programs, and cosponsored a bipartisan bill to allow veterans access to in-state tuition in any state they choose.

It is critical to ensure the brave women and men who serve have the resources, support, and equipment they need. That's why I fought to ensure that our troops received a 3.1% pay raise. I am committed to supporting policies that will improve life for active duty military, support military families, and ensure the Department of Defense spends your tax dollars as efficiently and effectively as possible.

John Joyce: A veteran should be able to walk into any hospital for care

My wife is a Navy veteran and I myself previously worked at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. I know firsthand of the sacrifice these brave men and women make day in and day out. The VA system is failing our veterans who deserve to get the care they need. In Congress, I will fight every day to make the system better and to make sure our veterans get the best possible care they deserve. I believe that any veteran should be able to walk into any hospital and get the care they deserve.

Lizzie Pannill Fletcher: Prioritize support for those who serve in our military

We must prioritize support for our men and women who serve us in our military. Our troops put their lives on the line every day, and they deserve a government that honors them and the sacrifices they make for us all. This includes taking all necessary st

Mikie Sherrill: Will fight to fix VA, improve healthcare

I will fight to fix the VA. We need to commit to improvement of the care administered by the VA, including upgrading IT systems, expanding telehealth services, and improving healthcare access for our female veterans. I will make sure veterans have top-notch constituent services to help navigate the federal benefit systems.

Haley Stevens: Ensure that the VA is adequately serving our veterans

We must continue to support veterans who return from service with visible and unseen scars. While the Department of Veterans Affairs maintains a National Resource Directory to help veterans and wounded warrior access programs and services, we must ensure that the VA is adequately serving our veterans. We need a VA that addresses mental health and suicide prevent and an agency that is equipped with the staff and resources to deliver.

Haley Stevens: Don't bloat Defense budget at expense of domestic programs

I believe in the role the Department of the Defense plays in our government. We do not need to bloat the DOD budget at the expense of domestic programs. I believe in responsible spending that equips our soldiers and military personnel with the resources they need to do their jobs.

Mike Levin: Make veteran homelessness an issue of the past

Ensuring safe and quality housing for our veterans and their families has been one of Mike's top priorities. Mike strongly believes that even one homeless veteran is one too many, and he'll work tirelessly until veteran homelessness is an issue of the past. No one who sacrifices so much to serve our country should ever have to worry about having a place to live.

David Trone: Veterans deserve aid; empty thank you's aren't helping them

Veterans today are facing many serious challenges with medical care, education, employment, and homelessness. We have a moral obligation to do better. Congress needs to pass real reform that fixes the underlying problems at the VA so that it can deliver the excellent care that it once did. "Thank you for your service" must be more than words. Government at all levels need to step up to find and implement solutions. It's imperative that we fulfill our commitment to serve those who have served us.

Troy Balderson: Veterans owed care, support and services on their return

First and foremost, when our veterans return home, it is our duty to make sure they are receiving the care, support and services they need. Troy Balderson will be an advocate for the heroes returning home, and their families. Troy also believes that without a strong military, our country is not safe and our economic freedom is not secure. He supports giving our military the tools and resources they need to do their job, defeat those trying to destroy our way of life, and keep us safe.

Debbie Lesko: The military should have the best equipment around

I am committed to making sure our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines have the best equipment in the world as we continue to win the war against ISIS. This means we must continue to protect the F-35 and Luke Air Force Base. We also need to continue investing in missile defense so that insane madmen like Kim Jung Un cannot threaten our country with nuclear attack.
