On Civil Rights: A strong ally in the fight for marriage equality

Mike will continue to be a strong ally in the fight for marriage equality and protection against discrimination until it is the law in all 50 states. Mike co-sponsored and voted for the Equality Act which passed the House last year and is an advocate for the equal treatment of LGBTQ couples who hope to adopt a foster child. Mike believes that no one should face discrimination or harassment based on their gender identity or sexual orientation.

On Homeland Security: Make veteran homelessness an issue of the past

Ensuring safe and quality housing for our veterans and their families has been one of Mike's top priorities. Mike strongly believes that even one homeless veteran is one too many, and he'll work tirelessly until veteran homelessness is an issue of the past. No one who sacrifices so much to serve our country should ever have to worry about having a place to live.

On Social Security: Oppose any and all efforts to privatize Social Security

Mike believes that we must fight to preserve Medicare and Social Security, essential programs that reflect our shared commitment to support seniors, and that we must oppose any and all Republican efforts to privatize Social Security or raise the retirement age--an unfair idea that will hurt seniors who have worked the hardest. This is why Mike co-sponsored the Social Security Fairness Act and the Social Security 2100 Act, to protect and strengthen benefits for our seniors and future retirees.
