Jeff Johnson: Gun control laws only put the guns in the hands of criminals

The U.S. Constitution is unequivocal: "A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Self-defense is a fundamental individual right and creating new "gun control" restrictions on law-abiding citizens will only leave guns in the hands of criminals.

Lori Swanson: Supports variety of common sense gun safety reforms

Lori supports common-sense gun safety reforms.˙ We should ban bump stocks.˙ We should have enhanced background checks.˙ We should allow law enforcement to petition judges to remove guns from people who pose a danger to themselves or others.˙ ˙ Public health authorities should be able to study the causes of gun violence, so long as adequate safeguards are in place to protect individual privacy.˙We must help make our schools safer places of learning for our kids.˙

Rebecca Otto: Status quo on guns isn't working

After the San Bernardino mass shooting, Otto took to her Twitter account. "Enough already!' Otto posted. "America, you have been used by the gun industry. Time to push back and say no more of this #gunsanity." It was among the first of more than 100 tweets about guns Otto posted over the next several days. She repeated hat "what we are doing is not working," along with a call to lift a ban on gun studies by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
