Angelica Earl in 2018 MO Senate race

On Abortion: Loudly, proudly pro-choice

I am Pro-choice! I will say it loudly and proudly. There are zero reasons good enough to prevent a woman from making decisions about what is best for her own body. The decision is hers alone and I intend on keeping it that way. Conversations about this should be between her and her doctor.

On Civil Rights: Full equality for LGBT

I stand up for the LGBT community because they are Americans. Whom they chose to love, and how they chose to identify, does nothing to invalidate their citizenship. I am willing to fight for their right to be treated as equals. Every American should be treated as an equal.

On Crime: Prison not the solution for victimless crimes

There are far too many people in prison. Prisons get paid by the federal government to stay full. These companies lobby to push for tougher laws to have more people jailed for victimless crimes. Veterans are filling up jails for using medicinal marijuana. The war on drugs is failed. The school to prison pipeline in poverty stricken and black communities needs to stop. I intend on pushing to reform current criminal justice laws.

On Drugs: End marijuana prohibition

We can help combat the opioid epidemic with Medical Marijuana. States that have ended marijuana prohibition have seen a 25% decrease in opioid overdose deaths. After years of work with Greater St. Louis NORML, talking to people about why they use it and how it affects them, and knowing people that have experienced violence while trying to purchase their medicine, it's time for us to unite in the push to end marijuana prohibition!

On Education: More money for schools, less debt for students

The standards that are required to be met in order for schools to receive funding are inappropriate. Standardized testing and common core are showing to be failing our children. Education reform is needed. Public colleges need to be publicly sponsored for all to attend without accruing debt. Student loans should not be a profit garnering system.

On Energy & Oil: Coal is the past; time to move forward

Coal is the energy of the past and it's time to move forward to protect our families and planet. Its time to start bringing renewable energy jobs into abundance. Renewable energy and environmental protections go hand-in-hand. My plan would give businesses across the country the incentive to move into renewable energy and abandon the hazards we face with oil and coal. We should never rollback environmental protections for any reason.

On Families & Children: Guaranteed family leave

Having a baby is a traumatic experience to a woman's body. For that reason and because a mother and father deserve time to be parents, I will push for parental leave protections for new parents. It's essential that both the mother and father get time with their new born knowing that their position at work is being held. I will push for child care assistance for every American family.

On Health Care: Supports universal healthcare

When everyone can finally go to the doctor, we'll be able to treat mental health issues, preexisting conditions, women, the elderly, sudden life threatening diseases or situations, veterans, drug addicts, and the homeless. We are the only industrialized nation that does not ensure healthcare to everyone.

On Jobs: Unions protect workers

We need protections to ensure that corporations do not put their employees at risk of physical harm, starvation, homelessness, and death. Unions have been at the forefront of these protections causing them to be the subject of attack in an effort to break unions up and leave the employees vulnerable. They are an integral part of the American Dream.

On Jobs: Raise minimum wage

We also need to discuss the federal minimum wage. For decades we have been fed the same line, "If wages go up then costs go up." This is, simply put, propaganda. Costs are going up even without raising wages. Wages need to be increased to offset the effects of the rise in the cost for goods and services. I stand with raising the federal minimum wage. Our people are worth it.

On Health Care: Corporate taxes should pay for single payer

Earl, who worked in a processing center for a Missouri Obamacare exchange before she was recently laid off, plans to center her campaign around her call for a single-payer, "health care for all" system. Like Sanders, Earl plans to pay for single-payer by making "corporations pay their fair share."
