2018 NV Governor's race: on Environment

Jared Fisher: Teddy Roosevelt environmentalist: Explore new frontiers

Talk to Jared and you will think he's a Democrat because he embraces typical Democratic ideals such as preserving and protecting the environment and exploring new frontiers in renewable energy and solar power. But Jared considers himself a Teddy Roosevelt Republican--and the married dad of four and bicycle shop/bike touring business owner has been a registered Republican for years. The rolling businessman and UNLV grad looks at himself as a moderate who admires the leadership of another moderate Republican--the current governor of Nevada, Brian Sandoval.

Jared Fisher: Eco-tourism promotes economy AND outdoor recreation

We need to bolster our efforts to make Nevada an eco-tourism destination. I acknowledge that Las Vegas in the south and Reno in the north draw much of our attention, but I want to increase heightened awareness and outdoor recreation opportunities in the big, open spaces outside of our metro regions. Our aggressive pursuit of tourism is vital to our economy.

Jared Fisher: Republican voters care about environment

Q: What did you find on your "listening tour" by bike that surprised you?

JF: One thing I did find out is that on the Republican side, people care a lot about the environment; much more than the core party talks about. I think that'll be a major issue in the next election. I'm going to make an extra heavy hit in the conservation area. It's important to everyone.
