Jacky Rosen: Applauds EPA funding to protect Nevada's surface water

Cortez Masto applauded the Environmental Protection Agency for awarding $20.6 million in State Revolving Funds to Nevada to support infrastructure projects that protect surface water and provide safe drinking water. "We're glad to see these funds made available for improvements to water systems all over the Silver State. Everyone in Nevada deserves clean drinking water and reliable water infrastructure, and we'll keep working in the U.S. Senate to ensure that's the case."

Dean Heller: $230M for Public Land Management around Las Vegas

Senator Heller released the below statement on the Administration's proposal to gut the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act's (SNPLMA) special account at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The proposal suggests a recession of $230 million from the program. Enacted in 1998, SNPLMA allows BLM to sell public land within a specific boundary around Las Vegas. The revenue generated by those sales is invested in important public works projects, ecological restoration, and conservation efforts across the state.

"SNPLMA was passed by Congress to increase economic development and promote conservation in Southern Nevada. It represents a good-faith agreement between local, state, and federal officials," said Heller. "This program has invested over $3.4 billion in over 1,200 conservation projects across Nevada, including wildfire prevention, restoration efforts at Lake Tahoe, and the development of parks & trails. I will defend this program from any attempt to rescind its funding."

Jacky Rosen: EPA should rely on facts, not fake news

Members of the House of Representative Committee on Science, Space & Technology--including representative Jacky Rosen (NV)--have signed a letter to President Trump expressing concern over the President's methods of receiving scientific information. The letter states that by failing to appoint a qualified director to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy or adequately staff the department, the President has left himself vulnerable to "misinformation and fake news."
