2018 NY Governor's race: on Government Reform

Cynthia Nixon: The 'Cynthia Effect': Cuomo now for restoring voting rights

Nixon gave her rebuttal to the annual Legislative Correspondents Association dinner [where Cuomo presented himself as a progressive]. Nixon dinged Cuomo for appearing to change his stances on climate change, restoring voting rights, banning plastic bags and more since she announced her candidacy.

"It's called the 'Cynthia Effect'... Before this campaign is over, he'll be getting arrested, protesting his own administration," she quipped.

Marc Molinaro: Take the corruption out of campaign financing

Molinaro wants you to believe in government again. You must elect him to be the next governor, eschewing the cutthroat, divisive, corrupt politics of Andrew Cuomo and opting for unity, dignity, and bipartisan problem-solving. The county executive said he'd "like to engage in a comprehensive reform of campaign finance." He said he's in favor of closing the LLC loophole, but only in combination with other reforms. Calling for "wholesale review and reform of campaign finance in the state," he said.

Cynthia Nixon: Main focus of campaign is exposing ongoing corruption

Cynthia Nixon, the "Sex and the City" actress and activist, is challenging incumbent New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, shaking up an otherwise sleepy Democratic primary race. Nixon's candidacy so far has targeted Cuomo's weak spots both locally and statewide, from the city's subway crisis to the corruption scandals that have continued to plague Albany, the state's capital.
