2018 NY Senate race: on Jobs

Chele Farley: Recoup donor taxes and use them to create quality jobs

A major theme of Farley's campaign is NY's status as a donor state. Citing multiple reports, she notes that each year the state sends over $40 billion more in taxes to Washington than it receives in federal funding. She wants to reverse that trend to help fund infrastructure projects and create jobs. "I'm running against Kirsten Gillibrand to recover New York taxpayers' fair share and bring our money home to rebuild the Empire State and create good-paying middle-class jobs," Farley said.

Dave Webber: Increasing minimum wage will result in less jobs

Those who study economics know that setting a high minimum wage increase at $15 is dangerous. I have spoken out against for 2 years now. Look at what has happened in Seattle when they went all in with the increase. All of a sudden there was a staggering loss in jobs, which is what economists have predicted all along. If you have 10 employees making $7.50/hour, and you raise their pay to $15/hour, 5 people will lose their jobs. Employers are not prepared to have their profit margins cut.
