2018 WA Senate race: on Budget & Economy

Susan Hutchison: Tax cuts led the way to economic growth & more jobs

I would have voted FOR the historic tax cuts that have boosted our economy by giving working men and women real tax relief. The thriving economy has created more jobs, record low unemployment for African-Americans and Hispanics, and increased wages, which will lead to stronger tax revenues. Politicians who say they care about the poor and working class are disingenuous when they vote against economic growth. Lifting people out of economic despair can only be achieved when jobs are plentiful.˙

Dave Strider: Sustainable recovery requires more federal spending

Q: Do you support or oppose the statement, "Stimulus better than market-led recovery"?

A: In order to have a recovery that is sustainable we need FEDERAL DOLLARS. There is no limit to what we can spend when it is done for the public purpose, and I can prove that in a heart-beat. Been around the world and seen countries using public spending to enrich the peoples lives -- unlike the Austerity from the GOP -- poor saps that got theirs, and forget you and what you need. Perhaps we should talk. Over one million comments, emails and re-blogs might be something to consider.

Mike Luke: Blames inflation on the Federal Reserve banking system

I believe most, if not all of our nation's economic woes are a result of the Federal Reserve banking system. It practically creates money out of nothing that constantly leads to the devaluation of our currency leading to inflation that most Americans can never keep pace with no matter how frugal they are. People mistakenly think raising the minimum wage will solve this but it doesn't. It's not that the minimum wage isn't high enough but the dollars have lost and are losing value.

Mike Luke: Balance the budget; cut the fat; allow no sacred cows

Pretty simple, balance the budget! All spending must be cut, domestic, overseas, military and foreign policy, no sacred cows. We must cease the budget gimmickry congress and presidents have fooled so many people with for far too long. In order to cut the biggest expenditure, military spending, we must scale back the mission of our troops to defending our shipping and travel rights throughout the world˙along with protecting our states and˙territories.
