On Civil Rights: States & Feds shouldn't define marriage, including same-sex

I don't believe it is wise to have any level of government pass laws defining and governing any marriage, and the federal government is not authorized to at all.

All individuals may engage in the act of marriage according to their own beliefs, as is their right as consenting adults. Citizens can always enter into a civil contract in their particular state where the only role the government has is that of a record keeper of the contract and courts to settle disputes of the contract if necessary but that should be subject to local jurisdiction.

It must be noted that states have passed laws regarding marriage and laws must apply to all equally, access for all. So if a state does have laws governing marriage it must be accessible by all citizens.

On Civil Rights: Don't require businesses to cater to same-sex couples

All individuals may engage in the act of marriage according to their own beliefs, as is their right as consenting adults [including same-sex couples].

Further, no merchant should be forced or extorted by the state or courts to provide a good or service for someone they don't wish to for whatever reason they choose, [including same-sex couples], one has freedom to do things they want but freedom to refuse to do things they disagree with whether right or wrong.

On Government Reform: No surveillance of people; but surveillance of government ok

Government seems exempted from so many of the laws and standards it subjects the people to directly and indirectly. I believe all levels of government entities (federal, state and local) should be subject to the same laws and standards it imposes on the people.

Government agencies that illegally conduct surveillance on individuals should be considered for termination and its employees that participated in the act prosecuted. Although we have laws protecting whistle blowers, those laws are not being upheld or respected by too many in our court system. It appears it's time to examine and strengthen laws protecting whistle blowers.

It should further be enacted that it is allowable to record the actions of any government servant (not just cops) while interacting with the people or being observed conducting official and public acts. A law should be passed that consent of the government servant or notice to the servant is not required to record them while doing their job.

On Homeland Security: End all military spending in other nations

The current US foreign policy does not keep us safe! It creates enemies while simply putting some of us now and future generations in unsustainable debt.

It is time to end all military spending in other nations, our military should be charged with protecting our commercial, travel and shipping assets throughout the world and the high seas while protecting our citizens and borders at home. We no longer need to loan out our military to be someone else's world policeman and another country's rented military.

In order to cut military spending, we must scale back the mission of our troops to defending our shipping and travel rights throughout the world along with protecting our states and territories. Military intervention around the world without direct provocation of war and defending/policing other nations is not only expensive but there is no return on investment. The cost of American lives in all this conflict is too high and for that there can never be a return on investment.

On Budget & Economy: Blames inflation on the Federal Reserve banking system

I believe most, if not all of our nation's economic woes are a result of the Federal Reserve banking system. It practically creates money out of nothing that constantly leads to the devaluation of our currency leading to inflation that most Americans can never keep pace with no matter how frugal they are. People mistakenly think raising the minimum wage will solve this but it doesn't. It's not that the minimum wage isn't high enough but the dollars have lost and are losing value.

On Budget & Economy: Balance the budget; cut the fat; allow no sacred cows

Pretty simple, balance the budget! All spending must be cut, domestic, overseas, military and foreign policy, no sacred cows. We must cease the budget gimmickry congress and presidents have fooled so many people with for far too long. In order to cut the biggest expenditure, military spending, we must scale back the mission of our troops to defending our shipping and travel rights throughout the world˙along with protecting our states and˙territories.

On Corporations: Wants private and government debt both treated the same

I believe all debt should be subject to discharge in bankruptcy court, including all government debt (federal, state and local). Government debt is no different than private debt and should not be allowed to keep people in figuratively debtors' prisons and virtual debt slavery. Nobody should be incarcerated, have their children taken away, or be forced into an underground economy for failure to pay anyone, especially any government!

On Crime: Repeal laws that punish people without due process

We have too many laws. We create so many technical crimes and incarcerate people when they've hurt nobody else. Our government has turned justice over to a police state and prison industrial complex that is not interested in serving the people but instead feeds on people. I want to see so many laws repealed by all levels of government. We have allowed police agencies and jails all over the nation to begin punishment of people before they have had access to due process.

On Drugs: Wants to stop all federal regulation of marijuana

There is no authorization for the federal government to prohibit marijuana, this is a matter for the states. Marijuana should be immediately reclassified with the next step of repealing all federal regulation of Marijuana. As more states legalize Marijuana in some way remember there is still federal law regulating it, the feds are still out there lurking around and I fear some may pounce on innocent people and honest businesses? Let's just take away that option from the federal government!

On Education: Abolish the US Department of Education

I believe the US Department of Education should be dissolved. I further believe all the excessive requirements and administrative burdens by the federal government neutralizes so much of the financial and other resources the government subjectively provides local schools. I believe there is no Constitutional authority for, and no return on investment regarding the US Department of Education. The federal government has no business dictating or influencing curriculum to parents or teachers.

On Free Trade: Be selective on which nations we do business with

I am open to individual trade agreements with individual nations provided it enriches our country and can be ended at anytime should we feel it necessary. I am against trade agreements like the TPP. Our government has no business subsidizing any trade or commercial activity of any kind. We must be selective about the nations we trade with, we have to consider how their standard of living and working conditions compare to ours.

On Government Reform: All levels of government should practice what they preach

I believe all levels of government entities (federal, state and local) should be subject to the same laws and standards it imposes on the people. Government agencies at all levels such as the IRS and state child support enforcement agencies should be required to go through the same civil and criminal court system others have to endure to prosecute or levy penalties on individuals and businesses by showing a court probable cause for their actions.

On Gun Control: All non-incarcerated people have right to bear arms

Another simple position, individuals not incarcerated have the right to be fully armed at all times while on US soil as per the 2nd amendment to the United States Constitution.

It is imperative that free citizens always out gun not just criminals but the government as well. If exercising our right to vote and˙to free speech does not stop encroachment on our liberties by either the government or˙criminals then the right to bear arms is there to protect us.

On Immigration: Discourage illegals by stopping welfare benefits

Although America has grown with the addition of immigration, we must be pragmatic and it must be for our nation's gain. We cannot continue to import welfare recipients˙but undocumented individuals have rights in addition˙to due process under our Constitution while in America. I don't wish to engage in a massive manhunt for illegals but we must cease encouraging them with the rewards of the welfare state and other accommodations that trespassers are not entitled to.

On War & Peace: We waste blood & treasure on unnecessary conflict

The current US foreign policy does not keep us safe! The highest cost is on us as a people. Look what we have allowed to be done to our loyal soldiers. While we waste treasure on unnecessary conflict look at the blood that has been shed. We have allowed our government to put our loyal servants into a no win situation that has needlessly taken their lives or permanently injured them physically and psychologically. We have allowed our government to misuse, abuse and neglect our loyal soldiers.

On Welfare & Poverty: Stop the welfare spending and identify the waste and fraud

Although I wish socialist welfare programs didn't exist to the degree it does and under the control of the federal government. The current reality is that many real people are subsidized by and even dependent on these various programs for their survival so I don't believe in abruptly cutting them at all, but I would freeze spending on these programs and identify waste and fraud to better serve the people. First, all business subsidies and corporate welfare need to be discontinued immediately.
