Social Security, Medicare and other Safety Net programs are more critical than ever as wages stagnate, more workers become part of the "Gig Economy" without the benefits given to regular employees, and employers continue to cut-off their funding for traditional source of pensions, retirement programs and benefits for most working Americans. Social Security and Medicare are not "entitlements". They are earned, deferred benefits paid for by Americans over their working lives.
